I'm seeing step/nerf bars are not real popular for the majority of the readership, but us old, short people need them. LOL
Anyway I've been researching them, I see quite a price range for what seems the same bar. What gives with the stainless, polished, ss 304 , that have price ranges from 150.00, 200.00, 300.00 dollars?
For those of you that use them what are your experiences, preferences, favorite brands, brands to stay away from, brands overpriced, etc.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

DEMikey are your bars slightly below the door sill? I've seen some that are the same level as the door sill, this doesn't give us a helping step up to the cab. Anyway my biggest concern right now is the quality of the bars, why is there such a price difference between the bars when the bars are made from the same material? I'm thinking some of you folks may some input on this concern. Thanks

The price difference is probably in the thickness of material used, that said, I've got the nfab's ss 2in main tube with step hoops, the main tube is just under the rocker panel and the steps hang down about 3in under that.

After 5yrs they still look good.

Thanks sparky, that's two recommends for the nfab. Haven't noticed anyone giving any spec's on tube wall thickness. Your idea makes sense. Might be the difference between the 300# and 500# load ratings.

Bought those because funds were tight at the time and I needed something to help my G-ma get into the truck when I drive her around. I'm actually really happy with them. Once they start to wear I'll get some sliders, but I've had them on for 5 months with no issues so far and you can't beat the price.

Truck looks good, like the wheels and tires too. Might have to look into those steps, thanks. Good thread OP I need some soon for the family.

I've had two sets of Westin SS tubular bars (one set under the Jegs name) on different Tacomas. No complaints.

Stay away from chrome or black coating and stick with polished - they'll look better and last longer.

I got these for pretty cheap off Craigslist. I think they are oem toyota steps but not positive. They look good and sit close to the body. I wasn't fond of them at first but I get in and out of my truck to much not to have them, if I didn't have them my drivers seat would be shredded.

Ok guys - caffeine must be kicking in now, good replies. My preference is a 3" tube, ss, polished, the style where the ends curve back into the frame. My dealer turned me away from the oval oem bars because they mounted too high and too tight to the body and were no help for us shorter people for entering the vehicle.
I noticed that there are fewer bars available for the access cab. So I think as long as I stay with a name brand I will be ok.

Yeah I checked a few OEM as well they were too close, good on your dealer though for being honest.
