Got my trd sport dc today, very happy with it. I was against steps that I saw, I'm 6' and they just seemed to get in my way getting out.

My wife is 5' and feels like she has to jump into the truck.

Anyone in this situation? I'd love a step that isn't in my way if I get out without using them, that she can easily use.

What about sliders? Protection plus a step that's not too big

They make poor steps. I know sliders are popular because TW but they're not steps.

They make a great step that doesn't stick out far, and get in the way

Okie dokie then. I guess the majority of owners with sliders aren't stepping correctly.

It really depends on the sliders. If they're tucked close to the cab and angled up, they won't be good steps. If they stick out a good bit and have no upward angle, they work just fine, the only difference is not coming as low as steps (But still lower than the cab and closer to you). Mine are kind of a mix of what I just described and I use them fine.

As for not getting in your way when you get out, AMP electric bars is your only option methinks

Unless you have like a 6 inch lift, tube steps are for show, not function.

Put one on her side only or buy a vehicle with electric ones

My tube steps are purely for function: to keep assholes in most cars and small SUVs from hitting my truck with their doors. I wouldn't even drive my 3rd gen until I put them on there. Had them on my 2nd gen for not even a week, sitting in my truck at the gym and the idiot next to me flings his door into my tube steps, then doesnt even acknowledge it. Tube steps won that battle

I had the AMP electric steps and although they are not cheap if you have a lifted truck with little ones you could not ask for a better option. I just took them off because my littlest one can now get in with a little effort. I always wanted sliders for side protection as well as a step I had them put on a couple of weeks ago, I realy like my sliders they are in use for the two reasons I mentioned. But I must admit it was much more comfortable getting in and out with the AMP's the only problem I had with them was how they fit on the underside of the truck they tend to stick out and are not hidden very well and the fact that they are not close to protecting your sides like a good slider.

Nope he drove off before I got out of my truck. He looked dead at me so I just flipped him off. I wonder if the NFAB steps offer the same protection as the tube steps. They look even better on these 3rd gens
