can't seem to find any power coming from anywhere in the wiring going to a new stereo I'm putting in. during installation I saw an electrical arc from one of the power wires, and that's when I lost power. can't find any blown fuses. there may be some weird kind of fuses under the hood that I don't know how to check. any suggestions? other than disconnecting the battery first?

    Welcome to TW

it's a blown fuse, there are two fuse boxes one in the cab and one under the hood. Check both of them.

If those fuses are fine, check the fuse in the back of your new stereo
