Can't decide between doing my stereo first(2 amps, HU, 4 components with a 6 1/2 conversion all around, 1 mid bass 1 15 and dynamat) or my front end(new headlights, grillcraft with hellas behind it with HID conversion). the front end will be way cheaper but I want the stereo so much more. what you guys think?

this should be placed under the (Tacoma Owners & Enthusiasts) in the site graphic :D

I say front end. Cheaper and quicker temp fix to the mod cure.

Get a new Deck/CD/MP3 player. YOu can easily get one for $300. If you're going to end up with a bunch of amps and new peakers anyway, the deck doesn't really matter that much. I've found the OEM speakers aren't half bad, so I just got a low profile 10" sub and a 100W amp. Built my own box behind the driver side rear seat. Crutchfield is a great place if you're halfway decent about installing it yourself (they include really good instructions, too).

Then get the grill and lights, should be about the same cost as your full on stereo setup.

Now you have the best of both worlds.

Save up for the full on stereo later. You'll be much happier with a setup like mine, because unlike some people's, MY opinion DOES matter... :D

Stereo, you can live without either, but frankly, the stereo adds better quality sound, more entertainment, etc...

and on the plus side, it wont take as long to save up for the front end than for the stereo

When I was 19 I wanted a big car stereo and I couldn't afford one. Now I can afford one and I'm not interested anymore. Get the stereo and enjoy it.:D

Go for the stereo... you only get to enjoy the front end for a few seconds each time you are approaching the truck... but the stereo pays dividends the entire time you're in the truck

to everyone, thanks for input. i do indeed know how to do stereos, done several including the one on my last truck. already have a POS headunit i bought so i could at least enjoy my ipod for the time being, but im planning on ballpark $2000 on the stereo, which is significantly more than the front end. but, like you gus said, you only enjy the front end for a split second, but enjoy the stereo the entire time you drive =D

I'm going through the same dilemma. Except its between a lift or a stereo. My stereo set up is going to cost just under $1,000(Installed by myself) but the lift will be around $1,200 + install I think. I'm leaning towards stereo since winter is around the corner and my offroading trips will decrease with it.

I'm passing on new speakers for now. Just a double din, sub, amp, and box that I should be able to build myself thanks to the lack of space to mount a normal box in my DC. But like others have said, I use my stereo a hell of a lot more than I go offroading.
