    Background and question:
    - I put in Infinity Reference REF-6532ex speakers in the front and back. Since these are co-axial, I had to bypass the tweeter per Crutchfield.
    That was two years ago.
    - I just installed a Kenwood headunit and kept that speaker set up

Question: Could I purchase that Alpine S-S65C component set and replace the lower front Infinity AND add back in the Alpine tweeter?

    ETA: Crutchfield says "no problem"...

As long as you reconnect the tweeter bypass you did years ago, I agree with Crutchfield. Are you using the included crossover, or wiring it to the factory wiring?

Crutchfield said to take it back to stock, and use the OEM crossover. We'll see next week when I hook it up. Will report back.

Hello all, I have a 2010 TRD off road with the JBL sound system. I want to be able to hop in my truck not plug anything in, be able to play my music, use my GPS, make phone calls all with my iPhone and a new head unit. Also want to be able to utilize the steering wheel controls. Not concerned about CD or DVD player. Anybody still on here have advice as to what head unit would be the best? Also I see that I would need an after market dash kit and will buy one from scosche, should I buy their Toyota Link+ Factory amp and steering adapter or is that something I should purchase after the head unit.

If Best Buy has an option for a head unit someone recommends for what I’m looking for might just buy everything I need and pay to have them install it.

my suggestion is really to go to best buy, see what they have in stock, and play with those units to see what you like. pretty much all the units anymore have bluetooth to connect to your phone, and can have steering wheel controls added in.

personally, i can't stand alpine units. i always liked the look, but the button presses they require to make audio adjustments are well beyond what i find acceptable.

i keep trying kenwood units, but they just always feel like antiques in terms of appearance, though the features are always up to par.

i usually end up sticking with pioneer units for no other reason than the fact that all their buttons and UI options make sense to me. i've always been able to manipulate them within 80% of their capabilities without ever cracking open the manual.

This may or may not be related to stereo upgrade depending on resolution of the following problem. I originally posted this on “thumb drive issues” a month ago but got no respnses so thought id try here. If wrong place to ask please steer me in the right direction.

I typically use a thumb drive to listen to music. Recently it has taken to not recognizing the drive after the end of a song. I have to remove the drive and reinsert it, then turn it on, and then switch modes. It usually plays for a while before repeating the problem but always repeats. I have sprayed contact cleaner both on the drive and also into the receptacle. No apparent result. This problem started to occur infrequently but has progressed to frequently. Ive tried various thumb drives but get same issue. Any comments or suggestions? Tia
