i can tell you that the speakers are on the above avg line for kicker. not bad speakers but they do need to be amped. sound better than on deck power. kinda power hungry. as for the amp, its the entry level. even if you stepped up to the cx line, its still the same amp just a different casing. wiring, probably cca wiring not ofc (which is considerably better and recommended. don't care what the package says, I doubt it is). I would def invest in the wiring but that's me. I will say that anything you get would be better than the factory. just my thoughts

you think the amp would fit under a seat?

how much time to install for a newb?

I believe it will fit underneath. One cool thing about those kicker amps is that it comes with foot brackets so you can mount the amp standing up like behind a seat. For a newb maybe just plan on a half day depending on how ocd you might be. Everyone does it in different amounts of time and might take their time more so than others. Prep time and how you do it (mount speakers and run wires ) depends. No need to rush. Do it right and the way you want the first time

That looks like a nice kit. They have a number of options on their for different speaker and amp combos. Curious to see what your thoughts are once it is installed. Its on the line of what I am looking for.

well i measured under the seat and the 16x9 won't fit. it'll stick out a little. i don't want it to show because someone might break-in to steal it!

If you're going to do it save your money and just buy the oem audio plus kit.

that setup "might" sound good but for the money the op could buy a much better system and have much for flexibility of controlling the overall sound. also, gives him room to expand if he ever wanted to.
most importantly, the op stated in the 1st post "cheap.... $500".

The only thing making that kit a vehicle specific kit is the 4 wire harness, which can be bought from ebay. Heck, I have a set that I don't need. Buy the harnesses separately and crimp on some quick disconnects like the pictures. You'll save some money that you can use to buy a better amp.

Any links or info on the eBay stuff? I like the setup but the price is a bit high for sure

i agree, one can drop the price quite a bit if you do what you suggest. I just agreed with the over all kit as some people may not want to or care to but i 100% agree with you

Right. Pretty much any major name brand will be better than stock speakers. The only thing missing in that kit is the LOC you would need if connecting to a stock radio. I've never been a fan of kicker.

i understand about 30% of all the above rhetoric. that's why i'm probably going to give this kit a shot. it seems like everything i will need comes in a box and won't require any crazy wire splicing or fusing or anything like that.

do you have an aftermarket radio yet? this kit is good as is if you do. if not, you will need a line out converter. google search before you start spending money.

yeah i've done a bunch of google searches. i have a stock setup 100%. i've had trouble finding any good resources that don't mention like 1,000 different parts in technical jargon. what the fuck is a "line out converter"?

Line output converters (LOCs) are used to convert a head unit's speaker outputs or the outputs of an OEM amplifier into a signal suitable to drive the preamp inputs of an amplifier.

so basically they're selling a kit that can't be installed because it's not complete? FML.

It is complete if you have an aftermarket radio. For decades, people have been replacing their oem radios when they install new speakers and amps. The kicker kit is a typical aftermarket setup. The only thing you need is a LOC, line output converter. They're not too expensive. You can get the LC6i for around 100 new.
