Damn yea in order to clear the frame i'm sure those would have to be kicked out quite a bit with 37's.

yea I thought about that, but not too long ago I got some taco seats off C-list to swap out from my 60/40 bench seat. So i'll prob just keep using these for a while longer to get my moneys worth until I switch to something else, which will likely be some nice seats at that point.

Yea i'll be curious on how bad the frame rub is with 37's on those rims since I have the same ones.
I agree on the staying narrow part. I might go to some 17's when I go to 35's (since there's more tire size options) so that I don't have to go to such a wide 35 on a 16.

I really wanted to stay 16’s, but like you said, there are SO many more options for 17s, so that’s where I landed on rims. I’ve heard the rule of thumb for off reading is to have you wheel be no more than 50% the diameter of your tire, so 17s on 35s are still a go

Well, finally got out to start working the triple sticks.. making a couple templates so to speak, went to hook up the linkage on the third shifter to see where it needs to move... and dropped a bolt into the crawl box, I really was trying to be careful, but was in an awkward position and my arm couldn’t really bend anymore, I think the lack of maneuverability is what made me loose hold of the bolt

my little magnetic pick up tool is pretty wrecked and comes apart easily, so I don’t feel comfortable jamming that in there and trying to get down to the bottom around the gears where I’m sure the bolt is resting, and I can’t put a magnet on a string either as it’ll just grab whatever the second it’s lowered in.. the drain plug doesn’t is under a different section of the box and I’m pretty sure there is a wall between where the bolt and the drain plugs cavity is..

Any genius ideas for the village idiot over here? SO DUMB!

Could pickup a boroscope (think they have some at home depot) and use it to look around from the shifter hole to try and see where it fell to in the case. Then use a good quality magnetic pickup to try and fish it out.

Otherwise I think you're only left with having to pull it apart....
That sucks man, I hope you can find it easily!

    I’ve got an idea!!!...

I’m gonna break my already crappy little magnetic pickup tool into little sections so that’s its flexible enough to make but still has hopefully enough rigidity to push and pull on, and then wrap it in gorilla tape so it doesn’t come apart, and go fishing!image.jpg

time to go see if I get a bite :fingerscrossed:

Thanks man, today was definitely a bummer lol. Ranks pretty high in my “did that really just happen” moments.. maybe even higher than accidentally shaving my eyebrow off..

I needed a good laugh, thanks @theesotericone ! And that leads me to this threads first pro tip:

DON’T DROP SHIT INTO CLOSED SPACES

Was able to retrieve the damn non-magnetic bolt by rotating the dual cases until it clinked into a spot near an exit point.

I am out of FIPG and don’t have any other gasket maker so I wasn’t able to bolt things back up, but everything is cleaned up and ready to go back together as soon as a store opens up and I can get more sealant.

And just to add insult to injury, I sacrificed my 17mm wrench in an attempted shortcut that failed.. today was not a good wrenching day lol.

One positive note, there were no leaks from the cases while they were upside down apart from the giant hole in the crawl box shift plate and the vent in the Tcase shift plate. Not a real world test, since the oil wasn’t hot or foamed, but I’m going with that as a positive take away from todays adventure in dropping shit into a crawl box.

Really hoping tomorrow doesn’t have some random time suck pop up :fingerscrossed:

Any time man. Glad you got it out.

So you don't feel alone I actually dropped a HD shifter spring in mine. I took the gamble and just let the gears chew it up. They did. lol

Well shit, this bolt obviously wasn’t steel, so the gears may have chewed it up as well! But nah, it needed to come out, too much mass to risk that. Glad your box was hungry enough to eat that spring though!

I should also note that up until I dropped that bolt work on the triple sticks was going really well. I found some material that was strong enough to bend and hold its shape, so I cut it into three lengths equal to the three shifters and started mocking things up. I got the first two shifters all mocked up, in the position I want them and without interfering with each other. After I get things bolted back up tomorrow and tape off that damn hole I’ll get the third shifter mocked up, make sure none of them interfere, and then start working on modifying the actual shifters.

Holes like that get rags shoved in them to avoid these issues and other containment’s from getting in!

Rags on rags on rags! Lesson definitely learned yesterday lol.

If I come back later today saying I’ve dropped another bolt down in there I’m going to post my address and fully expect y’all to come slap me!

My advice for the triple sticks is just to cut out the trans hump now. Dont waste your time trying to get it under the stock one. Make it a removable panel so you can easily get to the tops of both cases. Its the rule of dual cases, you will be pulling it all out again at some point.
