Only one big ticket piece left to order, gears. I really need to set my welder up and start practicing so I can cut and tub and put the armor on! Gonna use the seats as motivation lol

You're going ARB up front only, so I take it you've got a factory locker in the rear? I missed that if you mentioned it.

Yeah, E-locker rear and I’ll be ARB up front. I had a Detroit in the bronco but I want it selectable in the taco to try and save some wreckage lol

This is rad. I've been looking for a topper like that with the windoors for over a year now... they're god damn impossible to find used...

Yeah, I got pretty lucky with it, basically had everything I wanted, just in bad shape and the wrong color, but not anymore lol. I’ll cross my fingers for ya in hopes your search ends soon :fingerscrossed:

Got an email from Corbeau, the seats I ordered are going to be delayed until mid-late August :( I wasn’t too thrilled, but the guy I spoke with was awesome, and very patient with me. He also has a tacoma with them and assured me they would be worth the wait

I have a good 5 day break from work, so I plan to try and get a bunch of stuff off my to-do list accomplished. I’ll be putting my spare tire mount and brackets in the mail for @yarb71 and then coming back and trying to finish up:

    Toyota Cam Bolts
    Toyota Lower Ball Joints
    Whiteline Lower Control Arm Bushings
    Tundra Brake Upgrade
    Flush & Bleed Brake Fluid
    Grey Wire Mod
    Flush Power Steering
    Magnefine In-line Power Steering Filter
    Wire 4/7 Pin Trailer Plug
    Tidy / Loom Additional Wiring
    Pull Diffs
ARB Dual Compressor - still need to find a good location, hopefully I can squeeze it under the hood somewhere, but that looks bleak..
    Route Air / Bumper Chuck

I doubt I’ll get through it all, I’m also dog sitting for my neighbor and may possibly be building an AR for my pops, so we will see. But I’ll aim high and be happy with wherever I land. I’ll take a bunch of photos and try to make some useful posts as I go through things.

Doing the gears yourself or going the ECGS swap route?

I thought about doing them myself, but ultimately was scared off by a few threads and the mentioning of specialty tools. Just going to pull my diffs and send them off. Unless you’re here to convince me I should do them myself lol

    Don't contemplate. Do.

I've been running Trail Gear adapters for 2 years. No leaks. No issues.

As far as keeping the shifter work clean goes there's a few routes. Rad Design makes a triple stick that's fairly easy to make work, especially with a 1" BL. I went the old school route and have the crawl box stick in the factory location. Then I have twin sticks on the stock case. I sacrificed a cup holder to do that but it suited my build better. I don't have a BL and refuse to put one in. I'm double locked, 5.29s on real 35's. The crawl box was by far the best mod I've done to my rig for wheeling.

Thats a good report! I was spending all the monopoly money on an atlas the other night haha. But jokes aside, its less a contemplation and more of a how best to do it thing, atlas, marlin, TG.. how to do the sticks, can I find someone to help since I’ve never done anything like it, etc. I just need to learn a bit more about the whole thing and make some decisions. I think it’ll be really beneficial in breaking less things as well.

Find a local shop and have them do your gears. Don't bother shipping you stuff to the other side of the country just to have gears installed. Second, do a crawl box. With an auto you won't need a 4.7 but definitely get one.

I looked into it, because I do like using my dollars to support local businesses, but are two things that are swaying me towards ECGS.

1.) Quotes - for the same set up as ECGS offers, local quotes ranged from 3600-3900 with and without pulling diffs (which kind of blew my mind). ECGS is 2409 plus whatever the cost of me shipping my diffs in on their account would be, likely around 150-200, so lets call it 2600. 1000 dollars is a big difference. One way to think about it is the ARB locker comes free if I go through ECGS.

2.) Warranty - ECGS’ 5 year warranty is awesome and I’ve read good things about their customer service that leads me to believe I’d have no issues getting them to warranty my set up on 37’s should something fail. Local shops seem to cover their work for 1 year, and say nitro doesn’t warranty and Yukon will warranty for an additional charge.

I would have LOVED to either drop my truck off and pick up it done, or bring my diffs to a shop and pick them up locally, but a thousands bucks and 4 more years of warranty are too much to pass up on.

I may employ a local shop to help with a crawl box, though I’ve read its not something shops like to do, when I called marlin a few months ago they said they don’t even do it anymore, but hoping I can just get some help from regional members. Would feel MUCH more comfortable with the guidance of someone has done it before. Unless I get an absolutely smoking deal on 2.28s I’d go 4.7. I still have a ton questions floating in my head around it all, but I’ll hopefully be able to answer them with more research or making a dedicated thread.

Oh damn, big sale at Trail Gear and they’re close enough for me to drive down and pick things up.. Their trail creeper tacoma crawl box is 400 dollars off right now..

Edit: Now I’m on the phone waiting for their tech to help answer a bunch of my questions.. my wallet feels an imminent threat!

ECGS is a no brainier. It's who built mine and probably 75% of the guys I wheel with. Their customer service is some of the best I've ever had to deal with.

Well, I haven’t made it outside yet to actually get any work done on the truck, but I have spoken with TG and had most of my questions answered. I think I’m going to move forward with their crawl box, and get a triple stick set up from Rad Designs to keep things clean. Sooooo... who wants to help me put it in!! Lol

Ok, time to go get dirty on my laundry list of work that needs to get done

Do TG even have them in stock? They're running into supply issue from China and with this c19 going on, I highly doubt it'll be back in stock anytime soon. Maybe end of year? Lol

Hmmm, I didn’t think to ask, which I should have given the knowledge that marlin is seemingly on permanent back order. Their tech didn’t mention anything about it, nor did their sales who connected me, but I think I’ll give them a call now to double check. I’ll report back shortly

Yea that's a good idea. A buddy bought their adapter for his 3rd gen t4r in Feb and he's still waiting. They're giving him the same crap MC is giving their customer. It'll be back in stock next month. One month after another. Last they told him was end of August to September, Haha.
