Sounds good to me man! I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, so whenever you're free you're welcome to come on over. Beginning of July I'm moving to a house 2.5 miles from USUHS, so that'll be great.

Nope! It's so it doesn't get crushed in her backpack on her way to work. This is at least her second set of banana holders, and I'm not sure why she keeps needing new ones.

Replacing the rack and pinion and this impact has already saved my ass more than once! Some of the bolts were on there good, but were no match for the Dewalt. Now to make another trip to advanced auto to get a larger tie rod separator. Those buggers are in there good in the steering knuckle.

I'm going back to advance auto to get a better tie rod puller. If this doesn't work, I'll get a pickle fork and sledge hammer. I'm trying to avoid that though because I need to reuse my outer tie rods.

Just take the hammer and hit the knuckle where the outer the rod goes through. Have the castle nut on the tie rod end just in case you miss. It will pop out

Already tried that with a 4lb hammer. Wouldn't budge! Even have it soaked in pb blaster.

Amazing what a couple specialized tools and an impact will do. Popped the tie rods right out and was able to get the other bolt I've been fighting.

As long as you got it! I usually use a little heat and it comes. I have only used the special tools for taking the inner tie rods out

Sounds like the R&P swap is going fairly smooth so far!

Fuck no! I've been wrestling that thing like a motherfucker. I got it out just now though! Pretty major snaffu unfortunately. One of the lines feeding the R&P got all mangled. The fitting was so rusted, that it wouldn't spin freely. I got it undone, only to realize I was twisting the hard metal line instead of the fitting :annoyed: It's a mangled mess. Going to have to figure out the part number for that entire chunk of hose and swap that out too.

Thank god for NAPA Auto Parts. Toyota has both the pressure line AND the return line as one unit and wants $230+ for the part. NAPA has one just the high pressure line for $75 that I can go pick up in the morning. WHEW!! So I'll go ahead and put everything else back together so that way I can just throw on the new line tomorrow.

Yeah, and even better once I replace it!!

So far the most satisfying feeling had been getting the new rack back into place. I just wrestled that fucker for half an hour and was getting so mad.

That's unfortunate! Sounds like how it went when I just replaced the alternator in my Camry...took me 9 hours and about 7 of it was just trying to get the old one out. Once I got the old out the new dropped right in and I just had to bolt everything back together.

Yeah everything is starting to button back together but not without fighting me every step of the way. It's nearing the end though! Only a couple minor things to button up.
