Alright, finally got everything done (for today). This morning I replaced the high pressure hose for the power steering, replaced the front diff oil, and greased all the U joints. There was a lot of gunk on the diff drain plug! Also replaced the antenna with a cheap short one on Amazon. I'm not worried about reception with it.
    IMG_0841.jpg
    IMG_0843.jpg
I had to remove the little shield to grease zerk #4 and the impact proved to be too strong for it. Sheared it right off!
    IMG_0844.jpg

This is straight on my steering wheel.....
    IMG_0846.jpg
Nothing better than an organized garage after a couple days worth of work.
    IMG_0848.jpg
    Here's the new antenna
    IMG_0850.jpg
Next on the list is the anytime fog, rear diff breather, remove and repaint hitch, wrap rear bumper in white vinyl, and change transfer case oil. I'll do the fog mod later today since I already have wire on hand, but the rest can wait!!

Currently at the shop getting an alignment and a state reinspect. Fingers crossed they don't find anything new.

Well guys, hindsight 20/20 I guess. One step of swapping the rack and pinion is to take note of your old tie rods, and measure them to make the new ones the same. This just centers your steering wheel. I thought this step was to avoid a front alignment, so I ignored it and just threw the new one in. The shop said they were unable to align it this way and the rack would have to come back out, and it would take some trial and error to fix it. I just don't feel like dealing with that shit so I left it with them and I'll pick it up tomorrow. At least the shop owner was really cool. Charged me $500 no matter how long it'll take, even when the tech said it'd take 5-6 hours at $89 an hour, plus the $89 alignment, plus the reinspect of $35. He also said if there are any minor things on the reinspect he'd overlook it because he felt bad for me. So there's that at least. I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow after work. My wife is not going to be thrilled!!

try white plastidip for the rear bumper. It matches pretty good with 040 Super White. I want to see you do the anytime fog light mod. I have all the parts, but i need to see someone do it in front of me

Count the turns is a must when swapping TREs. Didn't realize it was applicable to R&P swap but makes sense though. Bummer but good to know.

Yeah, learn stuff new every day! The FSM recommends centering the steering wheel, then putting the seat belt through it. Fingers crossed my clock spring doesn't break or there's another couple hundred spent! At least that's fairly easy. What's a TRE?

I've already got white vinyl that'll be here tomorrow, but I can't swap it until Sunday (working until then). Going to follow this thread.

The anytime fog is easy! On this truck I'm going to use them as DRLs since I don't have any from the factory. Last truck they only came on with parking or headlights.

Now am I allowed to stay on TW?

TRE = tie rod end :D

I always wrap a strap around the side of my steering wheel and shut the door on it when I do steering work. Seat belt works too.

Got it back! They were able to get it all fixed up and managed to save the clock spring. Phew!! Next thing on the list is to wrap the rear bumper, rear diff breather, anytime fog and change transfer case oil which I'll do on Sunday (working 12 hour shift until then).

Got a surprise in the mail! Added these little flags and threw some tire dressing on there.
