I think the one with Bluetooth is 170. But to add Bluetooth to the reg box it's only $45

Does the regular one give you aux input?

It does! The one I have has an aux input, BT module input, and an iPhone input. It's not a regular iPhone USB cable though. You've got to buy their cable for $25.

Well, the man is trying to put me down. I took it in the morning to get its one time state inspection and it failed.

    • One license plate bulb out
      • Already fixed with a new bulb
    • Front brake pads needed replacing
      • Fixed that this morning after a trip to Advanced Auto
    • Drivers side headlight has condensation
      • This just gives me an excuse to do the BHLM and reseal the lights.
    • And the big one. I need to replace my rack and pinion. Cost me $380 for a refurbished unit off Rockauto with a $150 core (less return shipping charges)
Not the end of the world, but I may have to hold off on lifting it for a bit. Here's the part number for anyone else wondering.

Is this how the tire goes back on??

I know I say it all the time. State inspection is such a foreign concept to me. R&P sucks, I've heard it is by far the worst job to do on a 2nd gen. You doing it yourself?

I have had to do them in Utah for the past 17 years (as long as I have been driving) but this will be my last year! Our state legislature finally pulled their head out and changed the law this last year effective January 2018...doing away with a rather archaic practice. Choosing to use the money spent to fund the state inspection program to put more troopers on the road to ensure safety and enforce the law rather than waste it on an inspection program that had no effect on the safety of the roads.

What did they fail on the R & P? A leak?

Yeah, one of the boots was leaking. It's not a bad idea to replace the whole thing at all, but I'm just bummed because I probably can't swing my lift yet because of it.

Aside from the little snafu earlier with failing state inspection, I still had a solid day working on the truck. I went to Advanced Auto and picked up a whole bunch of stuff. I haven't changed brake pads in about 7 years, and last time I did I royally fucked up, so I was pretty hesitant to do it again. Luckily now that I'm so wise, I actually researched beforehand and knew what to expect. It all went flawlessly and took about two hours (really didn't want to mess up). Brakes like a freaking champ now.

I also plastidipped the badges. I was originally going to remove them, but after seeing the condition of the paint after removing other things, I knew these had to stay on. I swear, this truck has never seen a coat of wax in its life. In the next couple weeks I'm going to set aside an entire day to doing to paint correction with my polisher.

I went a little overkill with masking the rear....this stuff is awesome though. 180'x4' and cost me less than $10 IIRC.

    Tony approves of plastidip.

While the dip was drying, I decided to trim the mudflaps. Once I get reinspected and pass, I'll remove them completely. Not too shabby for eyeballing it with a dremel.

    IMG_0770.jpg
    IMG_0772.jpg

I got a little anal with things. Spraying derp onto cardboard and using a brush works extremely well actually. Just let it sit for 30 seconds first to start to thicken up otherwise it's too thin.

    IMG_0776.jpg

The finished product! Nothing too special.
    IMG_0777.jpg
    IMG_0779.jpg

New truck looking damn good after I've had my hands on it for 24 hours.

    IMG_0782.jpg

Up next is the BHLM. I've got to reseal the headlight anyways, so might as well do some painting while I'm in there!! Then the huge task of replacing the rack and pinion. Never done anything that in-depth before, but I'm confident I can do it with the threads on here.

EDIT: OH! And I learned that the PO is a fucktard who uses an impact to put wheels back on without a torque stick. The lugs were hard as shit to get off, but luckily nothing was seized. I decided to break the rear lugs loose and retighten to avoid future seizing. All was going well until I got to the last one. Couldn't loosen it, and the tire iron was LITERALLY bending. Not figuratively. Literally. I'm going to pick up some PB blaster and soak the shit out of it. May have to learn how to replace rear lugs soon.
