i thought i would post to the new member thread since i am new. :D

i have been a Subaru enthusiast for the past 6 years and decided it was time to go back to a truck. it's actually nice to get back into a 'yota. the 2009 Speedway Blue Tacoma is my third, 1988 4Runner was my second, and a 1996 Tacoma was my first.

just got a small lift and Weld Racing Wheels (powder coated matte black).

more mods to come... starting to plan that out.

I have wanted an STI for a long time. It was a toss up between the Taco and the STI...... Tacoma won because of the practicality. I think I still should have taken an STI out for a test drive though.

nope. i decided it was time to get more practical with the Tacoma. the STI's were fun as hell, smoked a lot of cars on the road and raised a lot of eyebrows. i loved the 06 GC Chassis way better than the 08 GR Chassis. they changed the rear suspension in 2008+ to a double wishbone and it took a lot of that "go kart" feel out of the car. the turbos had a lot more lag in the 08s too.

when i have the money i think i am going to build a Baja/Dakar Rally Forester STI.

    something like this:

^ IMHO...Bad Trade for the long run.

I was torn between a few cars before the TACO purchase. Bottom line. Nothing is like owning a truck. The STI is an amazing beast. Insurance, Turbo Maintenance, and price difference killed it for me. Everything about it got real expensive. I know I would also get myself into trouble too. Tickets I tell you.

I would "NEVER" buy a USED STI! Its buying new or don't. So with a price tag of 35K and Insurance being High on these Bad Boys.

    TACOMA all the way.

I'm going to get a used AP1 Honda S2k and enjoy that on the side. :D

I just went from a 2009 Subaru WRX Sedan to the 2010 Toyota Tacoma a few months ago as well. My Subaru blew an engine at 3500 miles (the dreaded spun rod bearing) and I had problems with it ever since (in and out of the dealership somewhere around 9 times). I traded it for the Toyota and I do not miss the Subaru whatsoever...although if I do I can always visit it here as it will sit there FOREVER (though they did finally come down on their asking price LOL).

Had a few subies growing up started out with outback sedan, then a WRX, and finally an STi. However my favorite car I owned was a 05 EVO RS. Taco for daily duties and MV Agusta for corners and a speed.

Did you get an AT or MT? I figured the 6 speed would keep my brain occupied while driving so I don't get sidetracked and come home in a car.
