Pick a truck and go with it. There’s something to be said about familiarity. Know what you got and do what you can with it.

I like the one rig plan.

How old are you? If you are, say, 31... I bought my truck when you were 12.

    Aged like a fine wine.

Lol... seriously. I didn't really even like the truck that much to start, hated the color, had no intention of ever building anything with it.

Owned for nearly 14 years before I really did anything with it... now... I love it. I will never not have it. I'll probably be buried in it. And Impulse Red Pearl is my favorite color.

    Hah. Nice!

When I was shopping I wanted one specifically in this color in a manual and a V6. Xtra cab as well because it is occasionally used for construction stuff so the bigger bed was a must. Bought mine and never looked back. 18 years ago on Craigslist. Was daily driving an FJ40 before that and this thing was pure luxury in comparison. And nearly as fun. Except the seats. The seats suck(ed). Have Recaros in my 40 :p

    Haha. It's a bug!

I've spent a decent amount on my Tacoma but really the only thing outside of stock that makes it more capable is the OME suspension. The rest is bling and creature comforts. Armor, backup cam, Android stereo with sub, leather gen 3 4runner seats. It came with the rear e-locker and honestly has done anything and everything I've ever asked of it. Unfortunately, though, I'm in a bit of a dilemma right now as my roof was damaged do to extreme amounts of snow (my fault for leaving it for 2 months'ish in Truckee). Initially I panicked thinking it would be totaled but as of right now it's looking like it's gonna be just fine. I'm sipping wine and smiling.

40's are a ton of fun. I got it as my first truck in 2001 as an 18 year old. Came with a tired 350, 4 inch lift, 4spd tranny and no top. Loved it! Currently its in the shop with a fresh 350 TBI, 5 speed Toyota transmission and a bunch of other cool shit. Probably should've died a few times in this thing. Should be getting it back in the next month or so...after 8 years in the shop... don't ask :(

EDIT - I suppose I put it too lightly. The armor makes a huge difference in capability. Definitely more brave. The front bumper actually prevented it from getting totaled in 2019. Two full size pickups were totaled after hitting me. A Tundra and a 1500.
