Looks like deep snow still and the main Gold lake campground is still closed I think.

We are on a meeting with the condo. Apparently palisades is going to a reservation style parking system..

They just haven't announced it yet..
Totally cut down on 89 traffic. I am all for it

Seen this before. "its great we get this revenue but we hate there are so many people, lets limit things".. "sure there are people upset and vowing never to visit again, but its great that i can push the cross walk button and not get run over by tourists"..."the economy is bad and we need to raise our prices because we don't get the volume that we used to get and the mortgage on our camper is starting to hurt"... "it used to be a sure thing that we'd make enough to get through the off season but its just not feasible anymore"..

Tahoe and Mammoth were never really resort towns like say Steamboat or Park City, Breck, or Vail. At least not until the big boys moved in. Mammoth is undergoing that same "surge" in condo living and I'm sure in a few years, it'll be expensive too.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it. Now for a re-gear to 5.29 and those Kenda 35x10 like @essjay has and I should be good until I start breaking things.

    It was.

I was trying to figure out how much weight all that added. I doubt you could load up and go camping for example.

    Spicer Road is open.

They are working on Spicer, Union, Utica camps this weekend. I'll try and find out from Joaquin Jeepers if they have plans to do a trail opening for Slick Rock.

    It should be coming soon.

    Paddled Utica reservoir last year
It has a cool shoreline that's great to explore
Didn't realize the road went to Slick Rock until I saw it on a sign

FYI... I was told by 4wd in Motion that we need to keep the trail clearing to 4wd in Motion Members for Insurance purposes this year. I guess Forest Service is having to be specific on who can participate because the trail clearing goes under their insurance.
