Sticker glue - how to remove

I finally removed the 'SPORT' stickers. How the heck do you get the glue off? I tried a couple of things and there's still a bunch.

I scratched the hell out of it using a 'scrubbie'. Now, I need to get some rubbing compound and try to clean up where I scratched it.

 

Rubbing alcohol works on some glues but the bedside adhesive is pretty gnarly. Xylene works great and is clearcoat safe. Spray or soak a small rag and wipe the glue off. Xylene also cuts through road tar with ease.

Home depot or any hardware or paint store

 

Extra heat!!! But I don’t know if that will destroy the clear coat or wear it down

 

I've had good success using a 3M eraser wheel, for all types of leftover adhesive on paint. Had better results with the 3M brand, as opposed to some other generic offerings.

 

Goof Off worked for me on removing my bed sticker glue. Though I did use a heat gun to remove the stickers which took most of the glue with it.

X2 on Goo Gone. It is one of those items in my garage that is my go to not only for automotive stuff, but around the house too.

 

Kerosene

 

You can use WD40, Goof Off, Goo Gone, citrus based solvents or any of the other house hold product that MAY work with extensive rubbing and scrubbing and alot of time, which is what you're trying to avoid. Xylene quickly dissolves and softens the glue making it wipe off with ease. As a retired self employed detailer of 30 years it was and still is my go to for adhesive removal, tar removal and road paint removal. Totally clearcoat safe, works insane fast and evaporates quickly. You can get it pretty much anywhere including Walmart for $9.99 a quart

I used goof off and a microfiber towel on a hot day. No heatgun.
I tried penetrol and wd-40 and neither did a damn thing to the glue.
Goof off did it though.

 

For off the shelf compounds McGuire's works fine. Their ultimate compound should serve you well. It will cut through the scuffs and polish out to a nice shine. You may need to go over it two or three times depending on the severity of your scratches. If that's not aggressive enough you could go with their medium cut cleaner but I like to use least aggressive first then move up if that doesn't cut it (pun intended). These compounds are best used with a variable speed polisher or hand drill with a cutting pad.
