Hey guys, new to the Tacoma world and thanks for letting me in!
I have a 2011 Tacoma 4WD Access cab w/ a 2.7 and a manual 5 speed. About 6 months ago I noticed that the throttle was sticking on the Tacoma while driving down the freeway. When I get to about 80 MPH and at 3000 RPM if I put the truck in neutral, the truck stays at 3000 RPM's and I don't have floor mats! IF I hit the pedal and take it to 4500 RPM's and let off, it would go back down to normal. I cleaned the TPS body correctly and after a while it would still happen. I replaced the body with a new one from the dealer and it worked ok for a while but was still acting up from time to time. Over the Holiday it got worse! It is still doing the same thing, but now intermittently when I put it in Neutral, the RPM's goes from 3000 down to 2000, and without my foot on the pedal or in cruise control, it starts to climb to 2500, then 3000, then 3500 and at 4000 I have to rev the engine up to get it to go back down to normal Idle speed. Took it to the local dealer, and of course they say they cant duplicate it. They wont let the service tech drive it at that speed for legality reasons. Asked the dealer if there is a sensor at the pedal and if they looked at it or if the plugged in a computer to see if there are codes and of course they said they didn't do that and I asked them to do that today.
Has anyone else had this problem with there Tacoma's and if so what was the cure to fix the issue? Thanks in Advance!.

If nothing is obviously hanging up the gas pedal then your really gona have to look at scan data and see what isn't right.
I'd want to check for codes first, if there are none I'd want to look at APP voltages and % and TPS actual vs desired % first of all.

Have you unhooked the battery to reset the PCM just in case something wonky is going on with it's learned memory?

I’m willing to bet there isn’t anything wrong. When in neutral at speed these trucks like to idle high, I think it’s just part of the tuning. Get an ultra gauge and check throttle percentage, engine load, and pedal position and trend those when it happens.

Clean the throttle body. Easy to do and can cause “sticky” throttle.

    Clean MAF also…

Did on my old 2000 Camry.

6 gear, there is definitely something wrong, we were coming home from Vegas and just coming over the summit towards Baker on the down hill when I decided to coast......I let off the gas pedal, put in neutral and watched the tach drop from 3000 RPM, to 2000 and then start to climb on its own to 2500, then 3000 and then 3500 and had to rev tit to 4500 to get it to go back to 1000 RPM.
Before the trip I took the Tacoma into my local great Toyota guys and they couldn't duplicate the issue, and they cleaned the throttle body & MAF before my trip and did a complete PTI. I know Yotas run on a high idle but going down hill with my foot off the gas shouldn't have made the RPM's climb on its own.
