I am literally out with family celebrating one year since I had a bone marrow transplant. Still in remission (I think) but will have appointment next week with oncologist. I hate this.

Have to reinstall the rack still. It started raining on me so I had to pack it up.

And lol at iKamper telling me that removing the rack to wrap it might void the warranty when we were trying to resolve their fulfillment error. Hack job on three of the four mounts from their factory....

 

Where did you get the wrap? That's pretty awesome!

Covid has royally fucked my surgery timeline. Over 3 months have passed now since the recurrence was discovered and I still don't have all the testing done that the surgeons want to see before scheduling everything. Two weeks ago I had another biopsy sent to two different labs and pathology came back different from each place so that needs to be redone (it'll be my 3rd biopsy now on this same spot...eventually they'll have removed the entire tumor just trying to get an accurate pathology back at this rate).

Through the delays I've been trying to keep busy to keep my mind off this all with mixed success. I am happy to report that the bed bolts on my truck looked really good when I pulled them on Sunday so at least something is going my way.

 

It's weird how two labs would have different pathology. But I'd imagine the result could vary dependent on the progression.

Thanks, man. I'm baffled by it. Dr said one of the path reports was nothing like what he observed and when I sent the other report down to my surgeon they asked me to send the complete report. Had to let them know that was all we got and it was pretty vague.

 

Damn. Did your surgeon have a recommendation for lab work? Maybe send to them so he gets what he needs?

 

I'm not sure about the logistics of getting the samples sent to UCSD but it may come to that (or me traveling down there to take care of the rest of the preop stuff).

One of the surgeons asked for some updated imaging but insurance denied it because it's been less than 6 months since I've had imaging and it took a week and a half for the appeal on that before they approved it so that's been another delay.

I'm ready to get on with this surgery and chemo so I can start healing. At this rate it's going to be at least another month when before I was hoping that I'd be done with surgery and home healing by now.

Maybe petty bitching on my part but the anxiety is starting to wear on me and I really just want to move on with life but I'm feeling like I'm stuck. I did buy my ski pass for the 2020/2021 season last night and I'm going to be bummed if things don't come together for surgery soon cause I won't be healed up enough to ski otherwise.

Surgery finally scheduled. July 1st is go time. I have two more infusions and a half dozen little projects around the house to wrap up. Getting a stump out was one of the projects. I tried to put the tacoma to work but it wasn't heavy enough. I cut all the roots about a foot down from ground level and soaked it for a couple days but even with wheel chocks it was just dragging the truck in the gravel.


Ended up having to dig the stump out more and cut it below grade, killing the blade on my chainsaw when I hit a pocket of dirt and rock in the stump. I drilled a bunch of holes in it to hopefully encourage it to rot instead of continuing to sprout more trees. If it comes back I'm going straight to blasting.

 

I had some trees like that - elms and mountain cedars. Ended up getting concentrated Roundup, some decomposition accelerator, and a 12” long 1/4” drill bit. Drill holes, pour Roundup. After a month, add accelerator. No more stumps, and 2 years later they’d composted enough to break up with a shovel.

 

I finished up the holes and may pour some bonemeal in them. It's going to be 3" under the soil then covered with weed cloth and 2.5" of DG. I replaced the section of drip line that watered the tree previously hoping the constant watering is what was encouraging new growth from the stump.

Some spontaneous fun last weekend since it was the last weekend before I head down the San Diego for surgery. I cut out of work early Friday and we drove up to the playa for a quick overnighter with the kids.


We explored some on Saturday after spending about an hour shooting and chasing model rockets. After lunch I gave the kids a chance to drive and then we headed home in the late afternoon to unpack the camping stuff and get the boat ready to take out Sunday.


We caught some fish Sunday and got on and off the lake with no issues even though the launch was a shitshow...easily the busiest I've ever seen it.

I did notice something else that I'll have to do my best to ignore for a few months when the wife was driving up the boat launch though. I've already replaced that light once so I may ignore it longer than a few months....
