While anything is possible, I highly doubt taking out that spring has anything to do with the misfiring.

    Spring removal from accelerator
I found this thread a few days ago and removed my spring on my 2015. Yes! It works great! Complete change in the stiffness. Thank you to Vaca [OP] for posting this. I legit created an account to say that.

I'm glad it's working well for you Janson. It really is odd that the gas pedal in the Tacoma is so much stiffer than any other vehicle I've ever driven - and I've driven hundreds of cars and trucks over several decades.

I tried this today. It removes the 2-stage pedal feel and makes using that ledge/transition area in the pedal feel much more usable. I will try it out for a week or so to see if there are any negatives.

It's been nearly three years now, and I couldn't imagine going back. Zero issues here, and my Achilles tendon is thanking me. :)

I experienced a bit of this on the highway at relatively high rpm / load. It may be the truck hasn't yet learned or adapted to the increased throttle input being applied. In my case, I am certainly using more of the pedal whereas I would hit the stiffer portion of the pedal and not push past it.

Mine has been out for a while as well, night and day difference i as well wont go back. That extra spring is definitely a toyota safety, emissions/mpg. Pedal still returns extremely firm that was my concern about removing it, a worth while 10 minute free mod
