good look. see if anyone needs those for a 98-04 and then start your search for 95-97 pair.

Akuma, if you can't find a used pair it's best to buy new when you get the funds. this is a place near me but not sure where you're located.

alternatively you can start searching for wrecks :(

explain the situation and show him the pictures of how nice your springs are and ask him if he will swap springs with you? you got nothing to lose and he might just say $100 plus your springs. its worth asking, all he can say is no.

at the end of the day you can just put those springs in the attic and sell em on craigs list. it might take a while but they will sell and you can advertise them on here too.

keep positive, you will have a hell of a nice truck when this is all sorted out

Oh I know it's a nice truck . The person that had it did not know how to fix it. I been looking on the list for someone that is parting out one . But they are a hard find.

where are you located? have you tried those pull the parts yourself places? they have very low prices on everything and great for big ticket stuff kike this.

also, what are the odds you can find out where that idiot bought the wrong springs, maybe you can get your correct ones there and possibly see if he will let you trade those in since they o look very nice and should resell easy.

Pick a part have very low Tacoma's out in them and if I do find one they gut the s... Out of them . I am in California and most dismantler have the parts and want a arm and a leg for them. I bought the car at a auction . So no paper work .... Only thing I found was a paper for the rebuild motor .

if you read the posts the guy has the wrong leaf spring in it so it cant flex at all and he has solid suspension that cant move.

he needs to put the correct leaf springs in it that are 4" shorter then the ones he has now, that's why its rock hard.

I know your unhappy with the money you already spent but these brand new springs are not much more then you would have to pay for salvaged ones that might even be and probably will be partially worn out. http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1996/toyota/tacoma/suspension/leaf_spring.html?brand=dorman

get these dorman springs and call it a day, $226.50 out the door is not bad at all and a very good deal on a very good reliable brand part. you would probably pay no less the $100 for the pair of used ones you had to fight for hours to pull off a truck at the salvage yard because most times the bolts are frozen and wont come out.

So, not to thread jack, but while we are on the topic of leaf springs i have a question. Mine are, how you say, negative arched. Basically arched the opposite way than normal. Its not bad, i guess, but they are arched the wrong way. Is this a sign to replace? They have been this way for a while now. I can get pic's, but not till tomorrow. sorry op, glad to hear these guys helped diagnose your issue.

absolutely dude, in fact at the point they lay flat with no load in the truck they are shot and need replacing but the OP springs are cheap to buy, ours are costly, like in the $400-$500 area for a pair. im amazed you have this issue with a prerunner, we have the heavier springs already so somebody must have seriously overloaded you truck to make the springs go like that. you sure they dint crack on you? sometimes they do that.

holy crap dude, if you go to dealer your going to get like a $1,000 estimate just on parts. go to the website I linked above and buy em then go where you want to have them installed. don't let someone buy them for you and add 33% markup on top of already expensive parts

the site above doesn't carry our springs but this one does and at good prices:

the prerunners use the 4wd springs with 3 leafs plus the big one

No, if i buy them ill install them my self. I do ALL my on work. Im a bit of a brand whore when it comes to my truck. I still get the same bfg tires it came with. All bone stock, so id like to get oem. When i first got the truck i hauled a load of wood pellets for my folks. A ton to be exact. not all at once. Split it in two, and i think thats what did it. I noticed from then on it always had a bit of a bro lean. That was in 04-05 maybe! I think after i replace the master cylinder and upgrade to tundra brakes leafs will be next.. Again thanks. And if you were in cali id buy you a beer. Byw haven't seen that check yet..

that's because they are listed as 4wd leafs which are the ones you need, as far as suspension parts go everything on prerunners are the 4wd parts so unless they did something different with the DC versions, the links I showed you should be your springs.

    right side: http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7492

    left side: http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7493

the prerunners use the 4wd springs with 3 leafs plus the big one so its considered a 4 leaf pack.

the oem part numbers for anything you need are easily found here: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html
just type in your vin and you get the exact parts for your truck then you can search using those part numbers

Let's hand this thread back to the op. I totally dicked him. Thanks for the links keakar.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Your leafs are the longer ones from the 98-2004 Tacos causing your shackle to have to extend the extra 4" too far back. The shackle angle is now wrong from that and your shocks are way over extended. Find the right size leafs and you'll be back to normal in no time! :)
