I prefer the looks of the taco as well. Interior especially.

Not that I think the twins look bad. Just prefer the tacoma.

Wouldn't have thought much about tire pressure, but now that has me thinking. I test drove a taco like 4 months ago; 4 cyl. SR5, no frills. Rode incredibly stiff, more than any other truck I've been in, also some vibration on the freeway ( I was thinking driveshaft). Had me doubting my choice in trucks. Went back for another test drive last week, same model and same route, rode like a dream. Can't think of a better reason for the differences.

So many questionable and irrelevant posts in this thread. Sports have stiffest suspension of all Tacoma models. Tacoma suspensions are pretty much the weak point of tacomas to begin with. Midsize trucks ride worse than full size because they don't have the weight. If you want to improve ride:
Replace suspension components. The more the better. If you can't justify the cash....
Buy used (new take-off) Tacoma suspension parts. Non trd sport. Off road or sr5. It will be softer. I think springs are the same but shocks are stiffer.
    Confirm tires aren't over-inflated.
    Avoid potholes.
    Turn up radio.
Add cushy wet okole seat covers.
    Buy taller better tires. 255/75r17.

    That's all I got.

This too. Shorter sidewalls = worse ride.

I got rid of my 3rd gen for various reasons but one thing I thought was great about it was it's smooth ride. Mine was a TRD OR. Even after putting on C-load tires it still ran smoother than my new F150 and my wife's Tahoe.

Yeah, The new trans/engine was just not for me. 9 trips to the service department in 6 months of ownership was a bit of a turnoff also. This was my 3rd Tacoma since 2012. The other 2 were great. I was enjoying driving a midsize for those 4 years or so but Tacoma is the only midsize I have ever been interested in and they ruined it for me so back to Ford I go. I drove a lot of Fords between 1995-2012 and they all but one treated me well.

TRD Sport models ride extremely rough. You can feel every little pebble or tiny bump in the road.. and forget about driving down a gravel road over 10 mph. These trucks are too light for the bilstein 4600 stock shocks. This is why many of these models have premature wheel bearing issues. The bearings take the beating that the shock is supposed to be absorbing. I went to a cheaper shock and had a much more comfortable ride.

My sr5 was the same way for at least 5k miles, I would play with the tire air pressure making it better, but as the truck accumulated more miles the suspension began to settle in. It's still firm, but fairly compliant. I've come to accept its never going to be like my gen1 tundra.

No no no! I demand that every vehicle I drive, no matter who makes it, drives exactly the same!

I just bought a TRD Sport 2 WD after owning a Jeep Wrangler for 10 years. The TRD Sport rides like a Cadillac compared to the Jeep. I find the Tacoma rides extremely nice and comfortable. There were parts of roads around town that I would hit in the Jeep and bounce all over the place. Now in the Tacoma, I hardly feel the same bumps at all.

that kit can be used with ZERO lift, but the 4600 might be a better option
