So I flushed and changed the power steering fluid (ATF) this Sunday (yesterday) seemed fine on test drive and the bit I drove last night. Followed all steps doing the flush, made sure to do extra lock to lock before and after return hose was hooked back up for potential air in system. This AM, it's doing the same, stiff to turn while underway, intermittent between stiff and what would seem normal. What is the issue? Air in system? Bad PS pump? Its a 2011 with 110k miles. Should I need to replace the pump this soon? Seems a bit unreasonable on an '11 Tacoma.
    Any info/advice is welcome.
    Thanks

Did you use the ATF that's listed in the manual? Maybe also find a parking lot or empty street and "snake" down it while driving forward slowly and turning the wheel lock to lock. You might still have some air trapped in the system.

do the snake in a parking lot

    probably air bubbles

I drained and filled my rack on 99 4runner and it took about 30 turns (I just drove around town 5 miles)
for it to stop whining and steer normal

Yes, used appropriate ATF as well as followed all steps to do flush and fill. Fluid at appropriate line hot and cold. Just did the parking snake ride lock to lock. Only seems to have these intermittent hard spots while underway, sitting at idle standing still, turns fine lock to lock, no hard spots. While driving, sometimes stiff other times not. Any more suggestions? Should I flush whole system again? No whining of pump, am I looking at a potential rack issue?

Check out the thread titled "Stiff Steering". Maybe the steering u-joints need some attention.

By the way what prompted you to change the fluid in the first place? Did the same issue exist before and after the fluid change?
