Has anybody ordered and actually received one of these phone mounts from “stiffymounts” on Etsy? Ordered a couple weeks ago and still nothing. Looked like a cool design. Guess I’ll never know.

This is a very active forum so if you don't have a response by now then probably you are the only one here to order one. I would check Hondo Garage mounts. I actually use a NATO mount off of Amazon for $15. Good luck.

Yea the name had me cracking as well. I contacted them and he did get back to me saying it would go out no later than last Monday. No word since. Oh well. Ill order something else. That Hondo looks cool but there is no way I could block a vent in Louisiana. Thanks for the responses guys.

I mounted with a Scosche magic mount. Got one of the older cheaper ones. It sticks to my windshield just above the registration sticker. I put my metal plate at the lower part of my phone and just lay it sideways. Left side is magnetically stuck to the mount. Right side rests against the dash. I almost always have Waze up and running (LEO reminder), so want it in landscape mode. It's a great location since it takes minimal movement from watching the road to check my phone. I actually bought the two pack, and use the other on my desk at work.

I know it looks a little big, but it's actually fairly compact. I stuck mine on at least 6 months ago and haven't had to reset it. For a suction mount, that's great. It has those little micro sucky things... like geckos have. I never actually see it since my phone is popped on it whenever I get in my truck.

This is a little off-topic but for these type of mounts you have to stick a metal piece to the back of your phone/phone case. Does anyone know if that metal piece affects wireless charging on an iPhone X in any way? Does it get hot?

Good question. Scosche says it doesn’t effect charging but to mount it below the antenna. I have a small plate attached to mine, and it’s low on the phone. Still charges when I place it on my charger at home. I haven’t paid attention to heat.

So, did anyone ever get one of these and if so, how did they end up working? I was going to grab one, but just trying to figure out if it is worth twice the price of a NATO $15 mount.

I bought a stiffy Mount from their Amazon listing. I wanted a phone mount that was minimal and unobtrusive. After the stiffy mount (for gen 3 Tacoma) was delivered I quickly test fit it but unfortunately ended up returning it. Initially I felt like the mount was very pricey for a 3D printed part. Upon receiving it I was impressed by the quality and design. HOWEVER, the “big” magnet is made up of four small magnets. They aren’t as strong as the scosche magnets. The big magnet is on a swivel making it easier to position your phone left to right. I wasn’t expecting this detail and thought the inclusion of this detail helped justify the price, though not fully justify. The biggest bummer about this mount is that it didn’t feel secure when mounting on the trim of my 2021 Tacoma dash trim. It didn’t snap into place like I expected. I was not confident about how the mount just sat there hanging off the trim. I imagined that if I hit a big enough bump, my phone with mount attached would go flying. Lastly, I noticed that the profile of the mount didn’t fully align with the angles of the dash trim.

I was really hoping this mount was going to work because I find it to be the best looking. another user recommended this mount to me and swears by. Not sure if the issues I experienced were due to my truck being a 2021 or specific to the mount I received. But due to the price, lack of snap, and magnets used, I returned it.

Yeah, I have this Stiffy phone mount and it works fine. It mounts to the instrument cluster bezel and you just kind of slide it to the left until it quits moving. It holds my LG6 phone just fine with no slippage but mind you I am talking about normal driving not any jarring off-road stuff. And if you want to remove it it slides just as easily to the right to lift off the bezel. Pretty simple design actually.

Thanks for the reply and advice. What model of Scosche magnet mount did you go with to fit the dash of a 3rd gen Tacoma?

Yea, I am leary and dont really go to Etsy for anything unless directed there.
There is a Raptor light set (smoked amber) made to fit a Tacoma Pro Grill that I might give a try. It says plug and play.

I got mine from esty and they fit fine. Just be aware it's nearly impossible to refund anything from esty.
