Even after test driving truck and buying new and now owning since 2019.. one of largest still don’t get used to is how light weight and sounds as if not ever totally closed doors on access cab 3rd gen.
    Anyone else feel this way?
Any of you have other still can’t get used tos?

I'm with you on the doors never totally closed sound. What I can't get past is the prices on pickups and what you get for it. Not just Toyota, all of them. Brands will do anything they can to cut corners while increasing their profit margin. Your not buying a truck. It's a computer with 4 wheels.
Sorry for the rant. Old guy here.

I disagree on the corner cutting. That’s why you can’t get a cheap pickup truck today. Even the base models have loads of standard tech and safety features. The Mazda B2000 that my dad drove when I was growing up had a manual transmission and no AC and no airbags.

Today’s trucks are far more robustly built and better insulated. Take a ride in a bare bones truck from the 80’s and it feels like riding in a tin can. One of my first trucks was a 92 Dodge Cummins. I often found myself reaching for the volume control on the stereo instinctually when I was trying to turn down road noise. Granted, that old Cummins was noisy, but the truck wasn’t insulated for shit.

The seats, and seating position, I've added 3/4" seat pads and seat covers, seat jackers and everything I can come up with. I can sit in my office chair all day long, I can drive our F150 cross country and get 19 MPG, and not even have one bit of back pain or have leg cramping. I loved my older 2001 Tundra, but the Tacoma seating position and padding is just terrible.

The sound is appropriate with the actual thinness of the sheetmetal. I bought a replacement fender online in 2023, it was lighter than the bubblewrap it was packaged in. Many vehicles are built this way. Tap on the doors or rear quarter panel with your knuckles on any 5th gen 4Runner.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
A consequence of more modern materials with lighter weight to help meet EPA req'ts
I predict in 10 years we won't be able to own a vehicle and all will be manufactured with ALL of the tech individually available by subscription only.
Glad I bought my last Taco in 2020.

It’d be very cool if the seats from a different Toyota could fit while still maintaining the side curtain airbag functionality.

I wish there was a reasonable seat swap option, they just have too many fancy things built in to just swap them out. We will see, I'll be doing a bunch of trips over the next 6 months, worst case I sell off the mods and trade it in on a good used Full Size truck.

Seat jackers were a great mod, I found that carefully adjusting the seat until its just perfect helped. I drive alot, will twice a month do a 10hr drive up to my worksite and I'm ok. 6 feet tall, with chronic muscular back pain.

    Yes: ^^^The Driver's seat/seating position^^^

I finally found a square, gray color cloth seat cushion that closely fits the bottom cushion matches the interior: The kind that you use for a rush or cane seat chair. It's about 3" thick and makes a tremendous difference in the comfort and seating position of the seat. It completely changes the view out/and prospective over the hood through the windshield. As an added bonus, it is also saving the left seat bottom cushion bolster fabric and foam from the daily wear and tear of climbing in and out. I'm about 6' tall and it changes the driving experience 100% for the better: it's like sitting in a chair instead of on a couch. I tried seat spacers but wanted more height and full support under my legs. Did 2nd gens ever have a power seat? I wish I could swap one in but it would probably turn on all of the warning lights and beepers in the dash.

I also can't get used to the noises and creaks in the center console areas. I have dis-assembled and r&r'd it twice and it still creaks and clicks.

And yet, I find mine completely comfortable in nearly every way and have zero seating issues.
