No need to buy that if you do not have the JBL system.

I just installed the same HU 2 weeks ago in my 09 Tacoma. You will like the sound and the system features. I already had an amp and upgraded speakers so it was a simple install for me. I have the black trim so I had to use the Metra kit and it was pretty bad. Scosche kit is a lot nicer but only comes in silver.

You just missed a $50 off sale at Crutchfield for this HU. Brought the cost down in line with the other discount sellers once you add in all the other items you need for the install.

I just put a Pioneer AVH-P2300 head unit in the other day. I'm kinda green to working on the Tacoma but what I had going into the install was a:

Pioneer head unit in the box (bought from American 2 weeks ago for $288 on sale)

Raptor TY-8100 wiring harness (from *********)

Metra Axxess steering wheel controls with harness (Also from *********)

Metra textured dash kit, looks like stock IMO (once again, from *********)

O'Reilly Auto 4 pin SPDT relay to bypass the parking brake DVD function (4.99)

some leftover wires, terminals and what-not odds 'n ends

Installation went smoothly and no real problems aside from removing the Hazard Light button and airbag light (which was an absolute bastard in my case for some reason)...everything started up, worked properly and no smoke clouds from anywhere in the truck. All in all, I'd say it was pretty straightforward and easy to do with the exception stated above.

I will say if you order from *********, others have had bad experiences and long waits for things to arrive, I wasn't in a hurry and everything arrived at my door 8 days after ordering from them.
