Hello again. i have posted two other threads about my 2017 toyota tacoma 4X4. here is a update. they found contaminated fuel, emptied the fuel tank, cleaned it out and also the fuel lines. installed the new fuel pump in the tank/ replace all fuel injectors, i called to day to ask when i can pick up the truck and they said that the truck runs great but there a code saying the cylinder is misfiring. prior to bring it to this toyota repair placeall six spark plugs were replaced and one ignition coil. its been 6 weeks since my toyota broke down. only 22400 miles on it. that does not mean the truck sat around not being used. it just means it was used to go to the dump, and to run errands. if it was sitting in the garage not being used for a few days I always started it up every other day and let it run. my question is this after them replacing the above what could causing the error code. could it be the hi flow fuel pump? i am so discouraged right now. on a happier note my insurance covered the the injectors, and tank cleaning . but now they tell me the truck has a code saying that cylinder five is misfiring. any one out there that can help I would appreciate it. sorry for the long thread.

Switch coil packs with another and see if the misfire moves. Sometimes after work like this the stupid things can throw a misfire code and when cleared they don't come back. . . . . or so I have heard.

respectfully; it would have probably helped to keep the progression of things in one thread others can follow, rather than ,,, now a third.
It sounds to me, your shop is not diagnosing the actual issue, rather swapping out parts.

Sorry but you have to run a code reader and actually give us the code or we are just as confuse as you. But beside that everything we tell you are just us speculating because you need to acutally test the parts or know how to work on it. If you still have error code than take it back to the shop or dealership that work on your truck.

thank you for replying. i am new to this so i am not sure on how to add to a thread i already wrote. the error code is P0305. from what i have been told it means there is a misfire in cylinder 5. one would think they would switch the the coil pack. i would take the truck back if i had the truck. its still at the service (dis service i should say) it broke down on 02/05/2023 and still not running right. i am so aggravated and just want my truck to run like it should. the mechanic said after cleaning out the fuel tank and replacing the fuel injectors my truck would run perfect. he said it does run great but they are still seeing the code for the misfire on cylinder 5 . to be perfectly honest with you when i was shown the sample of the gas and I am no mechanic but there was a lot of water in that sample. i do not think there is even a chance that i got bad fuel at BJ's because the day i fueled up there were lines for every pump at that BJ's. i waited 15 minutes to be able to gas up. the chances of just my truck getting bad fuel are slim to none. I could write how I think the water got in the fuel (if that was a sample of my fuel) but i do not want to have more trouble then i am already having with this truck. just discouraged and if the truck start up and sounds great then i am going to pick it up, drive it home and then i do not know what i will do with it. my insurance paid for the emptying of the fuel tank and the replacing all the injectors (thank god for that). so unless the problem has to do with the water in the tank they will not pay for anymore repairs. so far i have paid out of pocket approx 1855.00 and i am done. when i paid 34000.00 for a 2017 toyota truck with only 21400 miles on (and I bought it from my brother so I know he took care of it) i thought i would have no problems with it for a long long time. i put less then 1000 miles on it and then it broke down and its been nothing but a nightmare since. thanks for all the input. i just wish the truck was fixed and I guess it sort of is except for the misfire in cylinder 5 code. i and my late husband have always owned toyota's and never have we had any problems with them ever except for one where the frame rusted (from ct road salt). again thank you for your input
    Linda

I find it strange a shop is giving you your truck back with error code and making you pay for service. You can start by swaping bank 5 spark and coil with bank 3 spark plug and coil. Reset the code and see if it come back on bank 5. If it is change to bank 3 than either the coil or sparkplug is the issue. If it comes back on bank 5 then check the wire connection on bank 5 and check the fuel injectors on bank 5. If all work then you will have to do a compression test to see if there are leak in the engine.

what is this Toyota Repair Place? Are you at an actual dealer? Either way, you need to get it the hell out of there and find a reputable technician.
Hindsight is 20/20, but I think this nightmare is more about where it's being "repaired" and less about anything else.

So if there is water in fuel you should go after the gas station or your insurance. Your out of pocket is 0 in this case.
Who is working on this truck ?
