Good job, that eliminated that as a source of your problems.

So, with all your audio cables, amp, speakers & subs installed, you hooked up another Head Unit and it played fine?

correct... my old frontier had a system in it and i took the rca cables out of the amp in the frontier and plugged them into the amp in my tacoma... in other words i used the head unit in the frontier with my current system in my tacoma... and my system played fine...

Well, through process of elimination you've pretty much narrowed it down to your head unit... bummer man. Maybe somebody else has a solution?

i know... im gonna try that test with my old truck again tomorrow and see if its still working.... just to be sure im not having other wiring problems... im pretty bummed about this tho man =/. but hte good news is that if i do find out its my cd player i could maybe ask someone with kenwood and they could hlep me out. worst comes worst ill just have to send it back and get another cuz mines defective... im still wondering if it could be my rca cables that are running from my head unit to my amp...

Doubt it but run another set across the seats to the amp and you will know if its the unit or the cables.

thats the secind test i will be running if i ensure that my amp, subs, and all the connections between the two are fine with the first test... the first one all i have to do is pull my old truck next to my tacoma and plug the rcas from the frintier into my amp. i dont have to take my dash out lol.

Kenwood's a good company. Several years ago I had a Kenwood HU with a flip face on it. The face electronics died on it, ribbon cable broke about a month out of warranty. I called them up and they said send it in. Sent it in and they fixed it for free. I hope they do you right.

Okay... for months ive been trying to figure out why im getting no sound to my subwoofers... tonight i ran 2 tests to check my system minus the cd player and to check my cd player... first, i plugged my deck into the system im my old frontier to check the head unit... it checks out okay... then i plugged an ipod into my system from the rcas at the cd player end. once again, my other stuff checks out... so all my stuff works... however, i get no sound to my subwoofers still then i hook up everything in my truck together... wtf?

Ok so you know that your headunit is good, your RCAs are good for signal, your power and ground to your amp are very good, your amp powers up with the turn on wire (lights come on etc.?), your speaker wire connections are good from your amp to your subs? If all that is good then the problem is with your amp or sub. What are the models and ohm ratings of both the amp and sub?

Is the subwoofer output turned on in the head unit settings? Disconnect the subwoofer wire from the amp, turn on your stereo and meter the voltage from there. Use a digital multimeter. Set the dmm to ac not dc. You should see at least 27vac, but it depends on the wattage of your amp.
