What's "Bump" mean?

 

It's just a reply to a thread typically by the OP (Original Poster) that serves no purpose other than to move the thread back up to the top of the list of threads in a forum.

It's referred to as a bump.

 

you'll also see BTT, or Back To Top, which is the same thing.

it's most used in sales threads, in an attempt to garner new/different interest from people that otherwise are either not involved, or didn't see the thread when it was last posted in.

Serves the same purpose (sends the thread to the 1st page)

Where I come from, a “bump” has multiple meanings:

In cocaine circles- like, bro, you want a bump?

In girl circles- like, girl, you wanna bump?

Then there's the covert bump.

You have something for sale or a question asked with no responses.

You respond with the bump, moving it to the top of the heap, then delete your bump comment. Post stays at the top of the heap with none of the bump bump bump I'm getting no traction here indication.
