We've been members at both for a long time.

Generally speaking Costco is a bit more consumer oriented and Sam's is bit more small-business oriented, with a substantial overlap.

Costco tends to have more prime grade beef, but has a bad habit of blade-tenderizing stuff that has no need for it. Sam's doesn't. Boston butts are bone-in at Sams and deboned @ Costco. Spare ribs are whole @ Sams and cut to STL cut at Costco.

To anyone considering once vs the other I'd say first look at whether there's a significant difference in getting to one vs the other. Then go in and see the individual stores - just say you're going to the pharmacy which by law is open to the public.

I just bought another $GME Share because the 1 I bought at $253 gave me 71 shares and I thought they looked more comfortable with 72 shares that way they can all play nice and balanced on the see saw...

My local Costco handled the Covid pandemic like champs. Carts were pre-cleaned, checkout lines staffed, old people only hour 9-10 AM. I could always get in and out in under 45 minutes. I don’t stop at the OLED TV’s and computers; that cuts 15 minutes off the total trip time.
