this is about accurate considering senior year I opted for a "zero hour" class that started an hour before 1st period. Meant I was out of school by no later than 11:00 everyday. I still decided to go to bed around 1 AM with consistency.

Found this interesting. How often is it that major news outlets publish articles like this? In the short time I've actually payed attention to them I haven't seen many this direct.

 

So they studied this and found that regardless of what time school starts, most students will stay up until a "certain time" if school starts later they will not stay up later...That time is 10pm, 11pm, Midnight...If school is moved back an hour most 10pm's don't go to 11pm...they still go to bed at 10pm so the net benefit is much more sleep as a whole.

 

Big G wants big business to gather up all the property.
First, private property rights are a stumbling block for big G. To consolidate and grow their power, they need to do away with private property. If they can get big business to scoop up all the property, it will be easy to turn the "masses" against those big businesses and confiscate the property. Boom, no more peasants claiming private property rights. Massive increase in government power.
Oversimplified, sure.... But accurate I'd bet.

is now? are you fucking kidding me? this has always been the way...and has been even more so...since '08. (but really the trend has been there since the 80s, if not literally for as long as our govt has existed).

it's all publicity trash...i'm gonna keep out of the politics behind it...


in all seriousness...the shit with blackrock is def real...and that part sucks (esp for people like me trying to buy a house).

 

So, the argument that this opinion piece is "publicity trash" and people shouldn't drink her "kool-aid" is...that what she's saying is correct, has been for decades, and is becoming even more correct every year? Huh? If you believe what you just said (I sure do), shouldn't we be welcoming as many people as are willing to say it?

As far as "the trend has been there since the '80s" - the trend has been there for as long as humanity has been a species. Wherever there is power, or the opportunity for power, corrupt people will gravitate towards it. It's almost like the only way to keep corruption to manageable levels is to put strict limits on centralizing power. But no...the people shouting most loudly that the system corruptly favors the elites somehow conclude that the fix is to keep giving that system more and more power.

honestly, i responded before reading the whole thing - classic.
just beware of false prophets...she may be saying some of the "right" things, but it's just to sell her book.
my main point is there are plenty of people hooking onto the 'meme-stock' bandwagon and some sort of altruistic theme behind it or whatever brush they want to paint on it...to sell shit....that's all.

i'll add one more thing: i think that most people are generally fed up with the overarching theme of big $, big govt, and big business are screwing over the little guy. That was the primary response to the financial collapse. And it hasn't been fixed, solved, or really made better since then...if anything has only gotten worse.
So, maybe there's a reckoning coming? i dunno...i would hope, as i'm sure most us of would...but i can wish and hope all i want, don't mean it's gonna happen. Might as well sell a book though

Protecting you from yourself, gotta love it...mine's the same way. There's a couple target date retirement funds, but that's it.

I put in the match minimum into my 401k and either do the rest myself or hand it to my investment guy.

 

Did the quarterly costco run today. Among the other things I came back well supplied with wine, crab legs, and scallops.
