Actually the recent reverse repos have been at 0% flat.

The low rate is intended to encourage putting that money to use, and its more than a little worrying when the response to "Here's free money" is "What good is it?"

To my mind it suggests an economic contraction is inevitable. Who knows why - decreasing labor force participation, decreased entrepreneurship, decreased consumption as Boomers enter their elder years, tax and regulation policy stifling business investment...
some combination of all of these?

The unknown is scary, especially at the pace with which this has been accelerating.
