This is why the amount of shorted shares exceeding the amount of shares in existence is huge. Alot of these shares will have to be bought multiple times to cover all the shorts. And each sale will likely require a higher bid.

If no one can buy or sell, the price doesn't change. A halt gives shorts time to raise money from other sources to cover, and for casual parties to lose interest (which might help decrease buying pressure on share price). Thats about the only way it helps them.

ALL call options expiring tomorrow are back in the money. That's ~20 million shares less whatever is already being held to cover these things. So ONE FUCKING THIRD of float minus...we don't know. We are probably going to see 10-12 million shares change hands just for calls tomorrow if these stay ITM through end of day. Then stack all the other activity on top of it.

 

It's gonna kill the clearing houses tomorrow. What happens if they aren't liquid enough to meet the demand?
