    Oh I only have calls...no shares. If I had shares I wouldn't even care about these $5-10 dips...but with a call that's $1000 ;)

The money I have to invest is an IRA now with a local bank. Don't ask how it got there because it's a long story. But it's basically making nothing.
It's only a small amount $10K. I was wanting to close it out and add another $10-$15K with it and invest in some good growth Mutual Funds.
I will have to see about the capital gains taxes. Maybe put $6K each in a Roth IRA for myself and my wife. And do the same next year for $24K total. But I'm not sure I can, due to maxing my 401K.
And as far as needing the money soon I shouldn't. I keep about 3-4 months of cash on hand for an Emergency fund.

is your bank IRA a traditional IRA, non taxed until you withdraw? If so you will have to pay tax on it when you withdraw if you plan to put it in a traditional Roth IRA which is funded with money you’ve already paid tax on. If your IRA is pre-tax, you can roll it over to your own individual IRA brokerage account like Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, etc., without impacting taxes. That way you have a much wider selection of funds and stocks to invest in. If your bank account is really not an IRA but some kind of after tax money stock investment account then you’re good to go onto a Roth IRA with no taxes due.
You can Max out your work 401k contributions and also max out your Roth (up to 7k a year if your over 50). There are income limits on a Roth. But you can’t contribute more than 6k (7k of over 50) to a traditional IRA and a Roth IRA in the same year.
I rolled over most of my work 401k to an IRA and opened a separate Roth IRA with my after tax money (both are TD Ameritrade accounts).
Disclaimer: Not an advisor I read links and have my main IRA institutional account managed by a fiduciary. I gamble just a little with my Roth play account and currently losing money on Ford.:D

This is what I am doing right now...Taking $6000 every year from my fun account and putting it in my Roth...It's already taxed and then I just buy the same thing in the ROTH and the growth is now tax free...
I had $17,000 worth of $NRZ paying the near 10% dividend and I was dripping it every year so I was paying taxes on the drip $$$ so It was costing me out of pocket just to own and roll the dividends back in....
I HOPE I can get in the same Jamb with $VET in a year ;)

That’s a good move. I don’t have a lot in my Roth right now but will likely gradually move some of my IRA withdrawals into a Roth when I retire, especially when I reach the age where minimum required IRA distributions come into play. Will also rollover the rest of my 401k into my IRA when I retire (still contributing to it). Rollovers like that don’t count against yearly contribution limits.

Down 4%. Today was brutal for my portfolio.

IDK man. My patience is starting to run thin. If it closes below $1.25 I'm out the next morning.

I bought back my OCT $230 covereds today. I'm thinking of dumping my 300 shares and waiting for a dip.
