If you bought low/mid 3s, I would definitely hold until the short to float is less than 50%. 5k, probably not, but 1-2k is certainly within play when this thing squeezes.

At the very least, you'll have an opportunity in there somewhere to exit without a loss and almost certainly some gain.

Oh. yeah for sure, but when it's 25% of "just" $100, that's like 0.02% of my whole retirement everything. So, yay but, meh.

I have all my retirement in VTI or similar. I don't try to play with most of it, I've given myself some play money and that's it. VTI rule of thumb is 12%. If you bought only at the market peaks right before a dive, and didn't DCA, you'd be at something like 8% ROI long term, by having the worst timing in the world. On top of that, after a dive the average time for recovery is 4.4 years, so the old train of thought is that you should start saving into bonds at 40, then more at 50, etc. My take: BOLLOCKS, stocks until 5 years before you retire. If you're in a good spot with those stonks, sell it then. If it's in the midst of a recovery, wait for recovery. If you're in a crash, hold for recovery. You have 5 years. I'll play those odds.

ANNNND additionally, HYSA is 0.6% right now with Ally (might be 0.5% I'd have to check again). Either way, you don't have to have 0.03% for savings! My E fund is with Ally in a savings account.

My investing strategy is buy VTI all the time, when you can't buy a whole share (right now it's at about 200/share, so you could end up with 150 in your account), I've been buying SPLG. Once I get 100 shares SPLG I'll do covered calls until they go, and then dump that into VTI.

My trading strategy is to have a few glasses of whisky and buy stocks of playboy.
