In Europe, the .gov sends you your taxes and you review them to make sure it's correct and click "ok"

The US's system is the way it is, because of all things: Money and lobbying lol

Sounds about right. In my opinion it should be based on income at a flat rate (bracket dependent of course). No reason these millionaires and billionaires should be paying less in taxes (in some cases) than middle class families. But, I'm sure there's plenty of issues with that solution too.

ROTH's don't help with taxes. They are after tax contributions.

Right but I've already been taxed on THIS money when I earned it working.
I have to ALSO set up a traditional IRA and have THAT taken out pre-tax from my paycheck correct?
OR can I contribute to a Traditional with taxed earnings and then get a refund/credit for the money I put in and then get taxed on THAT down the road when I withdraw?

No. You fund a TRAD IRA then take 6K off your earned income when you file taxes. You get no deduction at all with a ROTH. You can contribute to both BUT only the max of 6k BETWEEN the two.

There's a months worth of reading about ROTH vs TRAD and what one's better to open.

    Temperatures below 70? Ew.

I lived in the Verde Valley, about an hour south of Flag but still very much in the mountains, for about 4 years. Miss it every day, even living at the beach now. Found my wife out there. We're heading back in 3 weeks for a week to attend a wedding and visit friends. Can't wait.

I did an "intro to options" training for my friends and family on discord one evening a while ago and basically spent the entire time telling them "if you don't completely understand, don't do it"

I'll mess around when I do my taxes this year and add in as if I had these gains last year and different contributions and see what it all does.

    A definitive maybe.

DD consensus is that the spike before all the brokerages shut down was the gamma squeeze that should've ignited the MOASS on GME. No one can *prove* anything *yet*, but it is heavily suspected (wink wink) that the brokerages locking people out of buying at the same instant short-ladder attacks drove the GME price down 370-some was a coordinated illegal move in plain sight. The allegation from the brokerages that the clearinghouses were risking illiquidity and crashing has a hard time passing the sniff test because all those hedge-based short attack transactions went through just fine. (Reminder: For every seller in a transaction, there is also a buyer - if the clearinghouses were worried about accurate settlement, why weren't the buyers on the other end of the massive short dump restricted?)

Did we mention Robinhood's biggest source of revenue is selling order flow to Citadel? Yeah, that Citadel. And that Apex Clearing, one of the biggest clearinghouses is also in bed with Citadel?

    https://medium.com/@codykrecicki/ga...rgest-public-market-manipulation-9bbc94887eb2

My my, won't all this make for an interesting congressional investigation down the line?

    Anyway, now what?

The consensus seems to be that though this particular gamma-bomb was defused through illegal market manipulation, supply is still very restricted on this stock and as media coverage and web virulence goes global, demand will likely continue to climb for the near future. Long side whales and rabid retail may yet trigger another ignition squeeze. No one knows if it will rocket the price, or if it'll break the system as the big money in short positions simply pulls the gears out of the machines and decides to let the SEC/legal system figure it out over a course of years.

The biggest risk for longs right now is probably that this goes on long enough for the world's ADHD-riddled attention span to move on to the next meme, interest wanes, and positions slowly cash out until the price allows the shorts to quietly exit weeks from now. Edit: AND BLACK SWANS. No one saw the brokerage fuckery coming, but that's the kind of unforseeable shit that comes out of the woodwork when you are playing on the bleeding edge of risky 'investing' like this.

Get the gains you can. I'm playing the GME trade because I've never seen something shorted in excess of 100%. I was like 'Fuck me, I GOTTA see what this does'. The rest of the meme stocks that are heavily shorted but not in excess of float, well we've been there before.

Genius. This provides grist for the social-movement side of the mill. I hate to politicize anything, but the best chance of this thing actually going nuclear now probably rests in if you can get the 100 million+ odd populists in the US seeing this as an eat-the-rich moment and nibbling every share they can on whatever brokerage. Tiny share purchases multiplied by a very large number are still a very large number.

Does crypto trade/move all the time? I just got into kraken because of the doge hype but haven’t done anything yet. Still trying to figure out how the crypto stuff works.
