Don't know. My 97 4Runner doesn't have any of that fancy electronic crap on it. That's why it always works and I don't complain about things. lol

I'll allow it. I guess we all have to figure out what new rig to buy with our profits. I'm getting a RAV4 Prime for the wife and I. Don't hate.

    AWD with dual traction motors.
    302 HP 290 FT/LBS torque.
    42 MPC on electric only.
    Hybrid mode 40 city/36 highway
    600 mile range
Recharge to full @240v 2.5 hours.
    0-60 in 5.2 seconds'

I have a friend with a '18 rav4 hybrid limited which he quite likes and we've both been drooling over the prime for a while.

Unless $GME goes to Saturn I think I'm stuck with my current rides

I certainly don’t wish ill on any.

My point is merely that the hype is often worse than the reality for most, and that wise folks assume the market will be volatile (structuring their finances accordingly)

Years ago in the run up to the 2007-8 crisis, I talked with a mortgage broker friend marveling at the folks that’d buy a house on nothing down, paying only part of the interest, with the rest added to the principle.

Assumption was the property price boom was going up and up and up.

    Until it stopped.

I’ve always been a “what if I’m out of work a year?” kinda guy, and make my spending commitments accordingly.

Yep. It's a spiffy little rig.

I looked at 2018-2020 Hybrids. Once I get the Fed and State tax credits for the Prime it will be cheaper then buying used.

Toyota really underestimated it's sales. They only bought 5000 of them into the US. Everyone was sold before dealer delivery. It literally never hit a showroom floor. I'm betting they don't make that mistake again in 2022.

I think you'll find more then a few of us here that have that mentality. If only the American populace at large could understand it. That wouldn't be the American way though.

Its nice having that kind of cushion for sure. Gave me the chance to quit a job I hated, and then say 'gosh, I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle to Alaska...', and then do something about it.

That's awesome man. How was the Alcan on a bike?

I spent a few years up there. The one thing I always tell people about bucket list shit is AK. The northern lights are one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life.

Loved every minute of it. Its a weird mix of realizing just how far away you are from everything, and yet how well travelled that road is. Met some cool people, and the bike broke down on the way back (which is how I ended up with the taco...), would do it again for certain.

Where did you live up there?

its amazing how living below/within your means, with a LONG financial runway in case of surprises, reduces stress. :D
