Are these all different retirement accounts? Individual accounts? I would consolidate - first off, keep it easier to log in and keep your shit together. But, if they're all retirment accounts, come age 70, you'll need to take RMDs from each of them collectively, meaning each account takes like 70 grand required distribution. If you have 4 Traditional IRA/401k accounts (accounts where RMDs are applicable) you would be required to take like 300k/year once you hit 70 years old. If you can roll that all into one, then you're at like 50k/year required. You can go above and beyond if you'd like

Man the volume on GME is a joke. It's like pre-market never stopped.

This price drop is entirely synthetic and we will likely recover and/or exceed by EOD.

Could you please point me to the documentation for that?

Last I looked at the RMD worksheets it was a % of the account balance, and thus would be the same whether spanning one account or multiple. Only difference would be that with multiple accounts and needing to take RMD from each account, you may have less flexibility in terms of which assets to liquidate ahead of others.

... but nothing I've seen paints a picture like you describe, thus my curiosity where you've seen this info.

SLV is basically the inverse of GME right now because everyone is believing the shit going on. The hate against GME wasn't working, so everyone is shilling SLV now.

An IRA owner must calculate the RMD separately for each IRA that he or she owns, but can withdraw the total amount from one or more of the IRAs. Similarly, a 403(b) contract owner must calculate the RMD separately for each 403(b) contract that he or she owns, but can take the total amount from one or more of the 403(b) contracts.

However, RMDs required from other types of retirement plans, such as 401(k) and 457(b) plans have to be taken separately from each of those plan accounts.

Well, the thing about ladder attacks is they just offer long positions a chance to get more shares cheaper. If the overall play hasn't changed (it hasn't), then the goal of the hedges in using them is primarily to shake weak hands out of the game. Problem is, they've swung this thing something like 10 times over the past 3 trading days and it keeps recovering - and that's with buying restricted.

Clearly the pressure is upward and people/insts holding at high price points aren't being scared into selling.

I agree. Over the last few days the stock has been up and down but has held pretty dang steady the entire time so far.

    @gpb now that I think of it....spreading it across let's say 3 accounts, 300k.

    100k in account 1
    100k in account 2
    100k in account 3

your RMD total is based on the value in each account, divided by a factor. Let's say the factor is 30, to make it simple.

    100/30 = 3.3k/year
    3 accounts - sum is 10k/year

    300k/30 = 10k/year
    1 account - sum is 10k/year

So. Now that I see the math out, I guess it doesn't quite matter.

THAT SAID each account will have separate fees, so if you have 8 401k accounts, your RMDs are the same, but you could be paying the management fees on 8 accounts instead of 1.

Oh no - it gets more complicated than that

Fidelity has 2 accounts - One is my current employer's 401K the other is an individual investment account. I have to have that opened in order to buy in to their employee stock purchasing program.

Morgan Stanley has 2 accounts - My prior employer's 401k was with Morgan Stanley and I had to open an individual investment account to buy in to their employee stock purchasing program. When I left that company I moved the 401k to Edward Jones. I left the ESPP account open as that was a long term stock and I did not plan on touching it. It has been paying dividends, which for some reason go to a different investment account which is what I used to dump in $AMC last week.

Edward Jones also has 2 accounts - A Traditional IRA and a Roth IRA. I have an actual EDJ Financial Advisor who I meet with and she helps me with all my other accounts as well. When I left my prior company we opened the traditional IRA and moved everything from Stanley's 401k over. When I leave my current employer, I plan to do the same so that everything is consolidated and centralized at EDJ.

At that point I would just have a bunch of individual investor accounts at different brokerages with play money. I have plans with all the ESPP monies to use for home improvement projects/small business start ups so at the end of the day it comes back to $AMC and $GME. To the Moon boys :rocket:

Can you roll stuff in kind?

Hey - if you can keep a handle on it all, go for it. My biggest concern would be if you're paying say 10$/qtr to keep your old 401k open instead of rolling it into your traditional IRA which doesn't have fees, for example. (That's what will be the scenario when I leave my current gig, it will be 5 or 15$/quarter, can't remember which, but it's the fee I'm paying now. 15$/qtr for any account over 5k, it's shenanigans). So, that will instead roll into a traditional IRA, and every time I or my wife will leave a gig, we'll roll into that same account. As far as the open accounts you might be able to transfer in kind, so you don't have to actually sell the stocks to transfer etc. again, though, the main point is if there is any sort of maintenance or management fees. If not, F it. The only concern is keeping a handle on all the account, not so much the fees.
