Probably more of the same at least for GME. Might do this all week. Shorts already lost, it's just a matter of time until they give up. I can wait.

Slow or fast.. Could go up but depends on how long each decide to hold out. They don't want to hold any longer than they have to.

That was what I was wondering. Basically what's to stop them from shorting this again when people start backing out when they feel we've won? It would earn them even more money, assuming they have the capital to begin with.

 

Shorts don't have expiration dates.

 

additionally, there are higher margin requirements as the share price goes up.

So if you short a stock that's trading at around $10, typically you'd have to keep ~50% of that value in your account, or $5.

Now say that stock jumps to $200 - your broker calls you up and says hey, you need to deposit more money to hit the margin requirement of 50% or $100.

and the fun part, if I remember correctly, is the interest paid on the borrowed stock is based on the market price -- so the hedge funds would be paying interest on the $200 in the above example rather than paying interest on the $10.

 

they're likely rolling some of their options...however, there's a lot of retail folks that were in on this early and so are in a much better position to hold them to the squeeze.
The idea is for them (HF) to reduce their loss and/or still profit. They fundamentally believe this stock should be 0 or close to it. So i've read they've actually doubled down on their original bets, all the while trying to mitigate the bleeding they're currently experiencing. They obviously have help (from RH, but other HFs, and the slew of misinformation being put up on the internet and TV).
This can play out in a couple ways:
1) short squeeze is realized relatively quickly - i think last Wed was the closest we saw to that. Now the HF have significant help.
2) short squeeze is slowly realized, so it's not a huge ramp up, but a lot of what we saw today...ups and downs...as things are metered.
3) HFs basically outplay/outlast the retail crowd and lost of individuals loose a lot of money.

So I did some experimenting and the highest Ally would let me set a sell limit for GME is $5k. It rejecting anything higher than that. However, it cancelled the 5k one immediately so I tried to set it at $4k and that one seems to be working for now...
Just gotta make sure I keep an eye out and raise that limit as she goes.

 

This is also helpful in case you’re otherwise occupied and miss a run up. Just remember you can’t sell what already has a sell order. Practice cancellation and setting a trailing stop. I have orders saved to execute that I hope aren’t openly mocking me some day

 

i was able to set 5k limits when it was at high 3s, but at the price now i cant. I just wanted to adjust the number of shares in that limit order but i cant review it and resave it.

Yeah, a $4k sell limit wouldn't be bad but obviously wanna try and top it out... Just not sure how much attention I can give later this/next week while I'm at work.

 

Look at the volume difference from last week during the run up to now on the attached image. No fucking way they closed out. They're still in, they're coordinating market manipulation, leaning on the brokerages they own, and buying a media blitz. I'll die on that hill. And the liquidity pool is draining. When it gets empty, I dunno what's gonna happen, but I'm gonna be there for it.
