Maybe MSM calling it a collapse when it's obviously not is more about insurance payouts than factual reporting?

Tornado = act of god = "pay for your own shit, loser."

Random collapse = a tragedy = "would you care for a blank check in this trying time?"

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'm more shocked that they don't build tornado proof (or perhaps resistant) buildings in these areas. They do in seismic zones. Why not tornado zones?

An earthquake will show up with (some) predictability on a reasonable timeline. You can plan for this and build for this.

Tornadoes just show up out of nowhere, fuck up a couple miles of land and then disappear into the darkness. Goddamned terrifying and no way to plan for aside from move the fuck out of tornado country

Building for them is easy. Solid concrete warehouses including a 6" concrete roof. Cost to build that is about 20X the normal metal frame and skin warehouse.

An EF3 hit massachusetts in 2011 and terminated about 3/4 of a mile from the manufacturing corrugated building my MIL worked at...They thought they were going to get hit...The walls were oscillating...
The destruction path STILL shows up on google maps after 10 years...Looks like a migration route for ungulates.
