You don't build a PC because it's cheaper then a pre-built. It's usually more expensive if you go with high end components. You build a PC to cross that shit off your bucket list.

Yes. That will do everything you need and more.

What do you do that you need more than 16GB of RAM? That's a good amount.

Good point on checking to see what the max amount the MLB can handle in case an upgrade is desired.

I built all mine cheaper than I could buy them. The video cards have made them more prohibitive. I would 100% buy one over build one right now.

 

I’ll fall back on that if I can’t build for whatever reason. My build had 32gb of ram, dual 16gb so that would’ve been better. So I can just add a second 16gb in this then yea?

 

ehh yea 16 gb is good if its dual channel, but with the ever changing platforms 32gb is nice to have.

 

its most likely 2 8gb sticks and from the pics on besbuy it looks like the MOBO had 4 slots. so you'd have to get 2 more 8gb sticks

just make sure to get the same sticks as the ones in it or at least make sure the specs are equal

Nicer graphics card and cheaper, plus a warranty (I'm sure). Didn't you say you were going to have someone else do the actual building anyway? This seems like a no brainer.

yea actually 2 16gb would be better, just need to make sure its compatible with the MOBO

i made the mistake of getting incompatible RAM for my MOBO

and that was at the end of 2019 when ram prices were ridiculous

 

that's a yes an no. The biggest advantage is the ability to add 2 more 16GB sticks down the road. You know, if you're provisioning virtual machines and all.


on an unrelated note, when and how were these brought up in this thread? I'm more surprised by the fact that I'm only a little surprised.

 

For @scottstrong89 use I'm betting 16GB would be just fine. RAM's an easy bottleneck to fix if he needs more. Just pop out the old sticks and pop in the new ones.
