Well one things a certainty, that’s a big hit on Access secure document storage reputation, “monitored 24/7”… lol

Institutions with critical data storage usually have records stored in more than one location, this might be hard copy storage with scans stored digitally elsewhere. My industry has multiple data storage locations for recovery of critical data.
Will be an interesting story to follow.

It's interesting for sure. I would think that all data storage and server facilities would have a NOVEC system in place for sensitive equipment rooms and a regular sprinkler system in place for the rest of the building. The commercial version of NFPA 13 has been included in every building code in the US since the early 90's. I doubt that warehouse was built pre-90.

So, the suppression systems failed, not unheard of but very rare. Then it lights back up after overhaul? Again, not unheard of 20 years ago but very, very rare with current FD imaging. I'd love to be able to read both incident debriefs from the Bartlett, Ill FD. The arson investigation report shouldn't take more then 2 weeks to complete either. That's the shit they won't be able to bury.

Well shit that’s a new one on me. Couldn’t get out of my driveway I thought I was stuck in the ice so I put it in 4 low backed out into the road. then it wouldn’t come out of four-wheel-drive but it would go to regular four-wheel-drive so I put it in regular and started driving down the street something felt really wrong. The anti-skid brake and ABS light all came on at once. I pull over to the side and stump turns out my right rear wheel was frozen. I had to go get a jug of hot water and dump it on the wheel to get it unstuck. You can see the drag mark through the snow.

Glad you solved it that easy. Haven’t had a freeze up on my Tacoma but had it happen years ago on drum brakes. Our NC winters typically cold but big snows and ice not so often. Did you have your ebrake on?

I felt the ebrake release but the drum stayed locked.
There were lots of puddles last night when I drove home. It was like 30F and then fell into single digits within hours...
I actually think it happened at work once and I powered through it until it broke free...
NOW I know not to use the ebrake ;)

As someone who designed high pile storage with both in-rack and above rack fire suppression systems, I'm not buying a "shelf fell over" and took out the entire system. No way.

I don't know what seismic zone that building is in, but if it was anchored even half ass properly you can ram that thing full speed with a forklift and it's not coming down. You might take out a whole bay, but you aren't gonna cause catastrophic failure to the point where it takes out the entire fire system.

If it was an in-rack system and if nothing was anchored and if all the bays were over-loaded and if somebody crumpled the two outermost uprights, I could maybe see it happening.

Fire inspectors tend to be hard-asses too (in a good way). I've never met one in NV or WA who'd let a shoddy rack job get in the way of the fire systems.

A very small, but technically possible chance. It would take a lot of negligence though.

One thing I didn't take into account, is if all that paper was water soaked by the sprinklers trying to put out the fire, it could have very quickly overloaded the racks. Wet paper is muy heavy. Typically you'd de-rate your bay capacities to account for this possibility.
