Absolutely wrong. Shorts forced to close via margin will buy back at whatever price is dictated by the sellers. Supply and demand.

For GME to pull it's ace out of the hole it would first need to de-list from the US exchanges. Which means buying back all it's current shares. Does it have the money to do that?

That's exactly what I said, unless I phrased it wrong somehow? If nobody sells, the price continues to go up until there's a seller. The buyer has no choice where he buys if he wants to close a position

As to the second point. GME has a lovely little clause in its contract with the DTCC that allows them to remove themselves if they find that the services is not working in their best interests. No, they don't have to buy back all the shares if the shareholders own them all out of the DTCC and agree to the terms at a shareholder vote. And then all the shorts have to be called in before the move.

This is the greatest play in the history of wall street and nobody wants to pay attention to it for some reason.

They just straight up turned off buying of this security in broad daylight without consequence last year when the price became too risky. And you really believe the same system is going to somehow force these same parties to play by the rules? I have a hard time figuring out how you square that circle mentally.

Do you not recognize that bankruptcy prioritizes bondholders and creditors over shareholders? And that there's basically no legal precedent whatsoever for the obligations of an insolvent counterparty in a token exchange.

I mean, you do you, but your supposed safety net is WAAAAAY more speculative and theoretical than the idea that owners of a trust instrument will be made whole either by the trustee, it's insurers, or the SIPC.

    1. Retail got wise and took their shares out of brokerages. Or left them in brokerages with $T's in AUM

    2. My safety net is DCA ETFs and mutual funds like you've been slobbering over the last couple days. Foreign, domestic, metals, energy, bonds, etc. etc.

Cracks me up that everybody goes out of their way to point out every conceivable reason why something might not happen instead of paying attention to what could happen.

Mainstream media got a lot of you guys good. All you had to do was look a few layers below what marketwatch tells you and you'd figure it out.

Listing why things may happen and why they may not helps most people get a pretty good idea of IF they will happen. lol

Yes, great, fantastic. Once again, who do you expect is going to be buying during the squeeze? The shorts? Well, they are operating through their brokerages, family offices, etc. They're sure as fuck not going to take on counterparty risk and liability as individuals. Jesus. Their short positions are held in street name no doubt.

Right, because ancient reptiles had the ability to reason. That hopium pipe must be treating you good tonight. Possibly the worst analogy in the entire thread. lol

It's being developed so you won't have to sell your shares.

And if you want to sell them during a squeeze, the intermediary between the HF's and the .gov is the prime brokerages. So goldman and JP can pay me. If they all file for bankruptcy, I was still right all along.

There's no escaping what's about to happen lol

No chuckles. Look at the analogy. Nothing lasts forever, even if it's been around for 10's of millions of years.

That's not what's in question. The question is will GME forever change the US markets. That answer will be no. Might they play a role in furthering BC trading? Sure. Have a lot of others floated that idea. Yep. Will it happen? Yep. But most likely not because of direct involvement from GME.

How, precisely, do you intend to liquidate those shares into a useful currency if there is no transaction of exchanging the share (or token, or whatever) for currency?

I'm betting they will. You're neutral at best. If you think they're doomed to fail, then short it. Free money if you believe what you're saying.
