Still think TITNC3: Return of the Iceberg was peak

I'm trying to wrap my head around this too.
I mean, I'm pretty sure I understand the difference between a split and a split via dividend but I'm not certain what would make a practical difference to the cause. If synthetic shares are just like our synthetic dollars and more can be printed at will, I don't know what stops a broker from saying "Ok, you had 100 shares at $130, now you have $400 at $32.50" and nothing ACTUALLY happening.

 

It has to be the dividend shares given to each shareholder. You can't just give synthetics, it has to be one of the shares issued by Game Stop.

 

And boom! MOASS! Or they just buy “synthetic” shares and carry on as usual. Either way, will be nice to see what happens

 

Well they never play by the rules anyways, so, indeed, we'll see what happens

Apparently they’re selling a lot of dishwashers. They were more than happy to drive by my house in the minivan and drop off the new one this morning for free.

 

That's what I mean.... If things worked as they SHOULD we would've seen MOASS a year and a half ago right? What forces things to work as they should this time around is what I don't understand.
Of course they "can't" give people synthetic shares as a dividend but they also "can't" create synthetic shares to short, or naked short or FTD forever, or send in complicit consultants to run a company into the ground, etc. "Can't" do something doesn't seem to have a huge bearing on what they do.

 

Unless $347 was the squeeze. lol

 

but why cant the brokers via MMs just complete their obligations to the shareholders with more synthetics? If they've theoretically been giving out synthetic shares before, why would they suddenly not be able to do it now?

Because GME is handing out the div. Not MM's. At least that's how I've been reading @kairo thesis on this causing a squeeze.
