Ok, here's something I can't quite wrap my head around with the GME splividend....
It's a stock split/dividend hybrid right? So it has an ex-dividend date (end of day Monday) when the shareholders of record will be entitled to the dividend (of 3 shares for each share held). The shares aren't distributed until after the end of trading Thursday.
Normally with a 4:1 share split, the shares would be 1/4 the value each on the day the split shares are traded (Friday in this case) but with an ex-dividend date, shouldn't shares trade Tuesday at 1/4 the value since they won't entitle a new holder to the 3 additional shares?
If shares don't go down 1/4 the value on Tuesday, should I sell all my shares since I should still get the 3 I'm entitled to for each share held at the end of day Monday?
@kairo what's your understanding in this regard?

Edit: Furthermore, if GME shares do drop 75% on Tuesday and the additional shares don't exist yet, won't people's accounts be showing a 75% loss? Could this cause a panic selloff?
Am I missing something that would easily explain how this should all work?

That's what I've been gathering although it begs the question of why the ex-dividend date even exists if it's entirely irrelevant.
I've heard some suggestion that the transfer of some dividend shares could be delayed if the shares were traded after Monday

lol sorry. What did I miss that you were asking? After the split the share price will divide by 4 and you will receive 3 additional shares for every one you own. There's no way to sell and somehow come out ahead before the split.
