No Margin in the Tax Free IRA...Or Future taxed Traditional IRA...Imagine that shit...getting margin called on a tax differed retirement account...

Interesting, that seems to mitigate the risk of being margin called but not being able to cover it. I mean, I *can* cover, but until I get more comfortable I'm not putting any more into the market. I'm content if I get 1%/day.

I might look into that, I've missed a few good trading days due to unsettled funds.

 

395.9 area on $SPY is a knife fight. if it breaks above on the hourly candle we are going to see 408, a pause at 400 for being a psychological whole number.
a break below 395.9 probability to see 389 and pivot for a massive sell off at 370.5 still remains.
with these scenarios, i took an $SPX calendar at 4100. This trade is more forgiving, positive theta so no premium decay, in fact each day you hold the trade you are getting paid for time even if price stays the same.
i went long because /YM broke the bearish trendline, transports broke the bearish trendline and $XLI, industrials, also breaking to the upside.

first warning is the break of the recent high (nov 2) on /YM , next is the gap fill at 3361. If 33090 is reclaimed, we can shoot up.
of course my analysis could be wrong so i have a stop in place. a break below on 393 on the daily on $SPY is my stop loss.

I wonder if you have legacy margin and they've not removed it...I'm pretty sure when they tried to pass the "Millionaires can't move money to an IRA" rule (that failed) they did get through a no margin in your IRA...Maybe you can't exceed your cash security.
