Correct, they have to, to survive.

One thing many overlook, is the numerous products that are derived from oil. Oil is not going away.

from what i've been reading it sounds like the the covid hit to production means that rig counts have decreased (and for a while now). Implications are that it's much more difficult to restart/produce once offline for extended periods...this means there will likely be a bit of a supply crunch as things start ramping back up. O&G has been down on account of the covid hit, and in light of the above, is likely undervalued.
Also, while EV's and green energy is getting a lot of attention, a full on implementation of renewables, etc. at a level to support energy demands is a long way off. O&G (maybe nuclear too) will fill that void for at least 20 years if not more.

    so...buy now.
    $XOM $CVX $RDS $..etc....
the majors have a shit ton of capital and will undoubtedly be some of the main drivers in green energy. A few already have made announcements to that affect...i think $XOM was the latest..

It's supply and demand. Before covid restrictions etc there was a bunch of oil drilling but also a lot of other alternative sources, see: fracking, oil sands, etc. All that stuff was barely worthwhile, but the point was to get the infrastructure going and see the profits long term. Well, kablooie, and now to get that stuff going again is going to cost a small fortune in materials and manpower. Taking stuff offline is quick, getting a whole crew together, trained, and on location is not quick, nor cheap - so yes, as demand comes back up, unless it is a slow and steady increase, the oil producers will not be able to keep up in the short term.

That said, this is not a difficult concept, and the market is forward looking. I think that's why oil stonks have gone up as much as they have recently, is that everyone kind of knows they're going to have a great few years in oil prices while the supply and demand twist settles out.

The price of oil was lower than it would have been with the covid draw down because of things though. That was the intent, was to drive out fracking/oil sands, make it unprofitable, and with enough of a time that it will take a long time for it to come back on line.

you saw that locked out shares open 3 days after earnings?
Price Action - pop on earnings -> sideways over the next few days, with a hard sell off on that 3rd day?
    buy puts at the peak...thoughts?

I’m hoping to close my calls to cash. I understand the thought process behind the put play and I haven’t seen the put price movement but I’m betting the premiums are a little steeper than usual because everyone has the same plan.

Whose playing RIOT options tomorrow? BTC is setting up perfectly for it. If it's still 47Kish in the AM I'll be stoked.

Yep. If it follows last weeks pattern. Calls at open on dip. $1 trailing stop as soon as profit is $100/contract. Trails trigger at about noon with $200-$300 profit per contract.
