    Agreed!

I live less than 3 miles from the reno/stead airport so I've seen a million P-51s fly. Haven't seen the A-10 in person many times though so I got myself right up next to it.

In no particular order, my list of favorites are the P38, P51, B1-B, F15, and A-10. I've seen them all fly except the B1B. Haven't gotten myself near one of those yet.

Did you hear Dreadnought mayday with a lunched master rod? Weirdest sound. There is a good video of the whole thing, Joel hade it safely on the ground in 55 seconds. The Sanders crew are close to us. I was in their pit several days. They helped restore our plane Critcal Mass back to stock.

    I don't recall that!

Are you a pilot, or did you work with a race crew? I've probably seen you in the pits a few times over the years. Small world.

Crew. Logistics, tug/aircraft placement, asst. mechanic, and random forklifts and cranes that I qualified myself to operate for engine changes.

Yep, I've definitely seen you over the years then.

They used to run the pace plane and lineup for the race start over off of Peavine Mountain. They switched it in the last few years, probably because of all the houses and warehouses that went up. For a lot of years, every race start went directly over my house.

That's the one. Balls of steel. Joel is cool as a cucumber. Has 3 kids under 10 in the pit.

I was a photographer for my college newspaper when I was a senior and got a press pass one year to go out and take pictures for the paper. That was a lot of fun. I got a few cool photos published that edition.

Nice. I saw the Angels and the Tbirds and the Snowbirds there over the years. Was hoping one would perform this final event. Usually I was under a broken airplane covered with oil and earplugs in during the demo teams.

The show was pretty poor this year, all things considered. No demo formation teams, and not a lot of static displays. I saw most of the big sponsors had pulled out since it was the last year here.

That being said, there was easily 3x the amount of people there versus any other year. It was asses to elbows everywhere, and gen admission was $65. I didn't even get a pit pass this year, just wanted to get close to the A-10 and watch it fly. That was my personal air race send-off.

I bought my house out here in 2005, and it's gonna be weird not hearing the practice runs or seeing the jets loop over in September.

    I'd rather buy $50 worth of stock...than bet $50 on a sport...

also the ones I have seen are not a fireball mushroom cloud, it's kinda like a little poof. Not ideal, wouldn't want it inside, but it's mediocre.

:spy: just got my tabletop smoker, burning off tomorrow so hopefully I don't make a boom.

There's a reason we all wait a few extra seconds before hitting the ignition on a gas grill....
