So...
No dice on my Tacoma wish...dealer called today to say they are just about to halt 2023 production and the configuration I was looking for 4 cyl Access cab is 86'd already....
I've been calling around in case it's gamesmanship on their part but it seems so...
Now I'm going to have to get a V6 and that changes all my parameters...
Oh and why are there so many with the SR5 Dynamic Navigation Package....ugggh...As far as I can tell it's an out of date nav system that already sucks compared to carplay with waze/google maps

No..I for SURE need the truck...I use my truck as a truck a lot...Now I'm very keen on the 6ft bed...but FFS it's like $12 more for a 4 door once you jump to the V6...

Nowadays the dealer has the upper hand with supply and demand. They won't BS because they can do whatever the want and still be ahead. They can't get the truck you want, that's about right.

If it was my shoes on your hands or whatever, I'd look to CPO in your config. Settling for a truck you don't want, the entire time you're going to hate it because it was a substitute instead of what you came in for.

they're terrible. I have a wireless carplay adapter and haven't used the "stock" system in years. I don't even have the built in sat nav though.

 

4Runner is a much better vehicle. A Lunar Rock or MGM trd offroad premium without the sunroof and without the kdss suspension would be my pick.

 

Yeah but you can't pressure wash the back of it after you haul manure. I mean, you CAN.....but it's not advised...

I love the 4runners but I'm with Brian @TreeFortRichard in needing a bed, I use mine enough that a trailer would be a pain in the arse to hook up every time I needed stuff to not be in the same space as my seat.

Even the toyota certified are insane...You're saving $1500 to buy a 2-3 year old truck of the same make/model/features with 30K MI on it...

When I bought my used 2010 in 2013 it was $20K to drive it off the lot...NEW were going for close to $30K it was like 33% off..

Fair, but at least you can get the truck you want. Otherwise, you're going to want to rebuy a different truck a lot sooner, which is a bigger bill.

Yeah CPO is also bananas right now, for the same reason. Your supply line is cut off, you have people buying out their lease residuals and then selling cars for more, instead of the dealers getting them. You have people not trading in because a new car is so expensive, etc etc. So, CPO supply line is jacked up, too. BUT, it is still (a bit) cheaper (depending on loan rates ), and you get the truck you want. Win(ish) win.
