Three phase will likely cause you to have a commercial account and if you think utility costs now are expensive you won’t like how much more you’ll be paying.

Grab a VFD that can output three phase with single phase input.

 

Yep, single to three phase convertors can be had for a few hundred bucks.

 

Never mind if you have 240v appliances like dryer/stove they aren’t going to work as well getting fed 208v.

Most household appliances just run 220v single, don't they? Obviously anything's gonna be more efficient if you can run 210-240/480, but we don't get low voltage 3 phase power in most homes.

 

Yup single phase is 120/240, used to be 110/220, then 115/230, but with better equipment voltages are going slightly up with time. I just put a subpanel in at my brothers house and I was measuring 246v between L1-L2 after 160’.


Being that three phase is geared towards commercial, so is the price of equipment since the customers just do fraud shit and write it off
