I bought COIN, PYPL, and added to NFLX and CRWD within the past 3 days. Testing things I'm learning from Portfolio management class. Also COIN because that's the only crypto exchange most average people can name- stoked on the 7% today, wasn't expected that fast. NFLX I'm going to double down if after earnings it drops out(did last time and that was when I first entered).

Also have some money in CELH over last few months based on fundamentals. Chart isnt great but gut feeling theyll catch up to MNST eventually, and I'm playing around with it for the sake of it being small-mid cap. Haven't done a ton with the smaller stuff yet.

    lulz I bought more FSKAX

    upload_2024-10-16_15-41-32.png

The SPAXX is my fidelity core position/cash, that's just saving up for some house rennos. But it's "invested cash" vs my emergency fund in the bank, so I track it in the Yahoo too. Been buying FSKAX since about this time last year instead of buying more VTI. Remarkably the same thing, just a different vehicle for it.

    BOOOOOOMERRRRR.

I still have about 60% of my portfolio in mutual funds/etfs like SPYG or VTI and some large cap fidelity mutuals. And then theres the covered call ETF's which net me about 2.4% returns from dividends(based on current total value & expected yields) and then the fun stuff to round it out. of which I still keep diversified. I beat the S&P 500 by 4% over the last 365 days. And had that dividend growth threshold over 2% the whole time. I think I want that up to 3-3.5% so theoretically if market does a year of true 0% gain, I match inflation via dividends

I've got way too much to think about/do to worry about playing with stonks. Plus, my math says that with what I have dumped in, I can retire early. Actually, we beat our estimate for investments this year SO, the math is even better for early retirement. Just front loading it now, once it's like "really really" secure, I might start spending time doing stuff again. In the meantime I'd rather spend my brain space learning other stuff/doing other stuff.

I just found $18k in a 401k from my last company that I opted out of but they apparently minimally funded.

You're roughly my age. I'm on the same "fuck off early and retire" timeline. Barring GME actually doing anything useful, I'm out in 15 years living off a 4% draw down. And if I outlive my projections, I can always buy a sailboat on credit and sail off into the both the proverbial and literal sunset

My company is the same (probably). They match and also contribute regardless of my contribution. IE 3%, plus half of my contribution up to 3%.

Yeah I might be pushing it from 50 to 55. But, like I've said before, I'd rather take off 50-60 and then go back until I'm 67 than wait until 63ish all in. But we'll see. If we make a move to a HCOL area that might be the retirement plan right there. Woke up to frost this morning, really pushing that desire to GTFO.

I know someone who 10 years from retirement decided to take a sales job close to home and sort of soft land into retirement...Well that job offered a 100% match. No limit beyond the government limit so maxed it out with 100% match
He started there in 2008ish and over the next 10 years the market rebounded insanely and just THAT 10 year period yielded a 401(K) that was tapping 7 figures...

We have opposite minds. I woke up and was like BRING ME SAN DIEGO

When we sell? My man....I'm sitting at 2.6% for another 27 years, then we will probably die in this house anyway. as much as we want to move to So Cal for the weather, it's MONEY. We'd have to decide to forego (a) big yard and gardening/farm-level size, (b) big garage and doing repairs (c) more than 1 car (but this one's fair, I'd be down to bike more in the good weather) (d) ANY frivolous expense for like, 10 years at least. So that's a bit tight.

But yes, keeping receipts is a big deal for me. I've been keeping all my medical receipts since my HSA was opened, so in 2057 or whatever, I can pull from my HSA for an expense from 2018 :p

Yeah, that's another thing is pivoting into a role that I could do remote, WFH, in that time. Come that time, if I took off 50-60, I wouldn't want to go back to an office grind and commute, or with sales - a ton of travel, does not sound enticing. But a WFH job without a lot of travel, don't care if the income isn't phenomenal.

My math at the moment says I won't need to do that. My bridge account will get me out at 51, but looking at more like a 10% drawdown rate, then at 61 I can jump to Roth and 401k accounts. Biggest factors - health insurance, and if we have kids that throws the whole plan into the abyss.

Can’t say I understand it but I’ll take the gains.

90% of the time I want to watch something I just go through the random 230 digital movies my family owns and pick something out, since we only buy good movies there’s always plenty to watch :) the random $2 digital movie sales or credits from Amazon for letting them delay shipping just build that library

@kairo at least it’s kinda winter weather in reno finally

IF you bought the $722.50 calls for $1200 you would be praying for a pop to $734.50 tomorrow to break even on the $1200 price today
