Does capital gains change with income when you file taxes as well? Or is it standard all around that short term capital gains is x % for you and I both? Somewhere I had heard that short term was just shy of 35% tax. Correct me if you know better than I.

Your own comfort level. I go farther out with high volatility stocks/options. It's something you have to set based on your own risk tolerance. No magic rule of thumb unfortunately.

People lost millions -- literally millions of dollars with trailing stops on GME due to the volatility and the fuckery

 

Think about how many stop losses got taken out in BTC's plummet 15 hours ago? From 55K to 47K in 2 hours. Every stop along the way got taken out. Another 2 hours later and it was back to 53K. Tell me that shit wasn't orchestrated. lol

Look at the hourly volumes. Everything is normal until 4am PST. Volume 4x normal that hour. At 5am volume 8x normal. At 6am volume 32X normal. From 5am to 7am every stop loss was taken out and that's what led to the crash and volume abnormalities. By 9am volume is back to normal and BTC is back in the 52-54K channel.

It was pure genius whoever put the initial large sell order out. Prices where high so you know a lot of folks tighten up the stop loss to maximize gains. Then you flush them all out and buy back at the lowest price in 2 weeks. Fucking brilliant.

So it’s best to set multiple trailing stops because you pay no fees. Depending on how many shares you have the $20 June Put is $200. That’s $2 per share as insurance against losses below $20.
If you had 100 shares you could buy that put a no matter how low the stock goes do you have the right to sell 100 shares at $20 above $20 that put becomes worthless but you also have the comfort in knowing prices maintained their 200% gain. Even better you sell the June $37.50 covered call for $200 (1 for each 100 shares) And then use that money to buy the put.
Now your shares are yours unless they go above $37.50 in June and then the call would get exercised. if the stock fell below $20 that would Your losses at $20. It’s called a collar position.
